I love seeing early footage of bands, especially before they go onto become famous. I especially love bauhaus. This is an extremely rare gem to see. I'm so glad this was preserved and uploaded so all bauhaus fans can enjoy this. I definitely would have been excited being in attendance for this had I ever received the chance to see these guys. I'm impressed with the footage no matter how primitive it seems nowadays. It's rock n' roll history in the making. It's fantastic, raw, pure. I love it. 🙂🥰👍

My god man. . . . This is amazing........To see them still feeling out their space on stage at such a young age is priceless...... I'd like to note that even at the start of it all, Peter's voice was already fucking god like.... he just always had that perfect tone.....in my opinion better than even David Bowie himself.

The equipment and lighting used for this gig is actually spot on. The gloom suits them perfectly and I love the ghostly afterimages of the band as they move around. It makes them look like otherworldly specters. Music for dead lovers. 🖤

Serendipity's a wonderful thing.... Having first seen your video nearly a year ago, I'm now reading Andrew Brooksbank's "from arthaus to bauhaus" (great Xmas present from wifey) & just read about your early involvement with the band. Shortly after, I fire up YT & it's back in my recommendations as if google can read my brain........ Having most recently worked on Barrack Rd in this seedy town, so close to all the venues, pubs, bedsits & flats frequented by various members of bauhaus, I can't help but think had I arrived in Northampton in 77 & not 87, I'd have been on the fringes of this amazing group of talented individuals. Oh well, I can always visit Adams Avenue to see if there's a blue plaque there. And to think I used to live around the corner in Abington.........

I can see how these guys would stand out from a lot of bands - tight, expressive, hardly a major chord passing, angst-ridden artiness. Something in their sound that's going for the gut, yet not so heavy and bluesy like Black Sabbath nor spastic and fun-frenzied like the Pistols. It's like stripped-down angst-ridden art rock.

Are you Graham Bentley by any chance? If so, thanks for the Magazine/Bauhaus gig at the town hall - a great one off in those days. As regards Bauhaus, where's the candelabra? Murphy was clearly yet to harness his inner Goth, lol. Was part of the Northampton punk and post-punk scene, played the tunes at a handful of gigs organised at the Racecourse Pavillion and DJd @ The Nags Head, Wollaston on Sundays. Back in those days, we were a little bit dismissive of Bauhaus's visual pretensions and normally greeted Murphy with cries of "Iggy, Iggy, you're not from Transylvania, your from Weston Favell." Guess they had the last laugh. If only the rest of their musical output was as good as Bela Lugosi's Dead.... Loved in America and by Children of the Corn everywhere though.
