I can't believe how many stupid comments there are here. Redline is usually limited by the head not the rotating assembly in the bottom of the motor. THe biggest problem when trying to spin at high RPM is valve float. In the case if a D series - dollars to donuts you can just change out the stock valve springs for a set of doubles - through it back together and be good for 10K all day.
@southproduct7463
4 жыл бұрын
eh, not entirely true. yeah valve terrain is definitely the most important thing first, but if you're going above 9k (depending on the motor, like a b18b lower end that'd be more like 7600) you NEED less rotating mass.
@colstonmulligan2598
4 жыл бұрын
SouthProduct74 it’s actually bore to stroke ratio theoretically if you wanted a high revving d series you would use a bored out sleeved d16 block with a d12-14 crankshaft altering your stroke being shorter allowing your crank to spin at a higher rate and yes less rotating mass helps but compare to a b series and you’ll see what I mean
@southproduct7463
4 жыл бұрын
@@colstonmulligan2598 rotating mass is more important than stroke/crank diameter. a b18 bored and stroked to 2 liters will sit at 10k all day with the right valve set up, assuming you have aluminum internals

Is it possible to make something like this on d16v1 , VII gen civic ? 🤨
@BTB_Works
Жыл бұрын
yes but its hard. im doing this right now. first off, very little support, as either companies discontinued the d16v1/d17 parts, or they are garbage. the one way to get a decent build IMO is what im doing. SPA turbo manifold (only decent one that fits the bolt pattern). vitara pistons, speedfactory racing vitara spec rods (you will have to shave off of both big end sides 1.41 mm as d16y8/z6 rods have wider big ends). after this you have engine management. you can do what im doing, and go full standalone with custom wiring, oooorr, there is a plug and play solution from doctronic. Its also advisable to get a d16 manifold for better flow and reliability and aftermarket support as its advised to change to a retun style fuel system (the ep2 has the regulator in the fuel pump assembly)
