I used to see SWC at Pomona dragstrip when I was just a kid. I lived in La Verne and could sneak into the strip. I became Chief photographer for Pomona Progress Bulletin and covered Winternationals for many years. Oh for the good old days.

Built one of these models as a kid as well, looked identical right down to the lettering. Very cool to see this.

I remember seeing SW&C 41 Willys racing at Lions Dragstrip back in the days in the early sixties.

Saw SW&C at dragway 42 in Ohio, 1963. The strip had a banked turn at the shutdown. Cookie lost his brakes and the B&M didn't slow the car down. That Willys FLEW over the back road and landed in a farmers crop. Cookie broke his nose. What a day for a 17 year old from Detroit. (me)

That's the epitome of baddass. I'd rather watch the gassers run than today's top fuel cars. Second pick would be the wheelstanders.
