Wow that's really serious thinning! I purchased one rifle and one shotgun. They have not arrived yet but are due soon. Was the Cooey-Carcano one of yours? Switzers seems to do quite a good job as an auction house.

Great video . I have had great 50 yard groups using trail boss powder, reformed 45-70 cases , and get this- The closest bullet mold I have for this diameter is the conical bullet for .44 caliber percussion .( Actually it was a mold given to me that was meant for a Ruger Old Army ) These bullets have the tapered end made for initial fitting into percussion cylinders, and they are a perfect fit for fitting into .43 Mauser case mouths. So between the tapered base and conical nose ,these bullets bulge out in the center to just over .45 caliber , but they swage down to bore diameter upon firing. Oh - They are close to pure lead and powder coated ,and lubed with Alox.

That is interesting. I have a couple hundred lead percussion revolver bullets around here somewhere that came with some other stuff, I should did them out and see what they measure. I think they are 200 grain, and appear to be soft lead.

@@314299 No telling. Bob Hayley finally passed on about three years ago, but had been making odd bullets, brass and ammo since the 1960's. He could make all kinds of stuff for any caliber or type including pin fire rounds. No one could possibly fill his shoes, so the business went with him.

The 2400 load looks pretty good, especially for 100 yards. Was the rifle made with the turned down bolt handle?
@314299
Жыл бұрын
Yes, the 2400 load looks like a good one. As for the bolt handle don't think it was made with the turned down handle. It was most likely turned down at the same time the barrel, magazine and stock were shortened.

When I bought the rifle both I and the seller thought it had a somewhat poor bore, to my surprise when I got it home I discovered it was just heavily leaded . After a bunch of cleaning the bore turned out to be quite good. This no doubt is one reason it shoots as well as it does. I've had this one for a few years, and have kept my eyes open hoping to come across a suitable mold, but no luck just yet.
