The "villains" in 28 Days Later run because they are NOT zombies. They're not dead or undead. They're living people infected with a virus, which is why we see them starving to death near the end. Nowhere in the film are they referred to as dead or undead, the movie just follows the zombie flick formula.

The From Dusk til Dawn series was even better than the original movie, especially since the format allows plenty of time to expand on the lore, both criminal and supernatural, and really develop the characters. Sex Machine and Santanico especially benefit from this treatment....yes it was on Spike TV, and like the equally terrific Blade series, relied a LOT on dated female nudity tropes, but hey Titty Twister, there's gonna be T&A...

I'm sorry, but the giant hand at the end of "Cabin in the Woods" has nothing to do with Cthullu nor a lack of ability to show a Lovecraftian horror. The giant hand is a VERY obvious reference to the "old gods" and who exactly they are: the very AUDIENCE watching horror movies. It's a very sly (and apparently completely misunderstood!) conclusion to the film which is overloaded with horror movie clichés and basically slaps the audience in the face with "we make horror movies like this because it's what YOU demand!!"

Seeing Wes Craven's New Nightmare as #1 on this list warms my heart. I remember being in the theater when I first saw the trailer for this and I about popped in excitement. After so many subpar sequels following the original, this just came off like something vastly different than what we had from 2 to 6. It mirrors the original in that it opens with a nightmare, only this time around two people die. From this point forward we're off to the races and I loved how this movie blurred the line between Heather dreaming versus her actually being awake. I also loved how they didn't overdo it with The Entity appearing. For much of the first half, with the exception of the funeral, we only saw the hand. This movie gave us the proper closure for Heather's Nancy character that 3 failed to do.

The film encourages people to be wary of everyone, but it's clear by the end that the woman spirit was trying her best to protect people, evidenced by the charms deteriorating at the end of the film when the man doesn't heed her warnings to stay away from his daughter. She was mostly a way to hit on the topic of having faith, the police officer not having faith enough in her that he ends up dying, too.

I didn't like Dr. Sleep's ending. For me specifically, it went too hard into recreating the chase scene by having Danny unnecessarily killed off and tortured. There was no need for him to be so cruelly hurt to recreate it, and all the hype surrounding his and the kid's mind powers fell flat for me. When all of the boxes opened, I actually was letdown by the fact that there were only 6 entities. Danny was SUPPOSED to have been fighting and capturing ALL of the hotel's entities, so I was expecting like 20. For me, the reliance on recreation of old scenes was too focused on rather than maintaining the original vibe, so the entire ending just makes me disappointed compared to what we could've gotten. It's a good movie, and I like it, but just like the 7th, 8th, and 9th Star Wars movies, I feel robbed compared to what could've been if the direction was a bit more adventurous. There was no need to cling so tightly to the original movie to make the ending feel like it's not even the same film because they did so much different things throughout the rest of it. If people were gonna be mad that the ending was too far off from The Shining, they also would've been yelling about the entire REST of the film, so the direction they went in for the end just feels unneeded, and even rushed, from my perspective.

Considering that when a woman is sick she still is expected to take care of the house and etc, I understand why there is little compassion. Also from my understanding, when men get sick they get less compliant. Furthermore, when the women in their lives instruct them on how not to get sick or to go to the doctor to get preventative medicines or treatment, they dont go. The lack of sympathy is because the menfolk didnt listen and it seems like they just give women more work than what women already have to deal with.
