Casting just makes sense... you can move more material without moving as much, your using the momentum of the cables, bucket, counterweight to reduce wear.

I have never heard a qr valve sound like that and I have been running nothing but friction cranes for 9 years including manitowoc 4500 and 4100 but I guess it's possible sounds like shit whatever it is.

Lots of swing and sling for a little bit of sand. Washout just eats up productivity.
