I had the same exact issue a while ago. The problem was the BMS that didn‘t trigger once 3/10 cells got overcharged. They were at 4,7V and had the same formfactor. I put it immediately outside as I noticed it to let them cool down, and after that they had ~1V after 48 hrs. The rest was just fine fortunately.

Use the spacers and the threaded bars. They protect the cells from damage. They keep them cool. If they need to expand they have somewhere to expand to.

Good tip, the spacers probably work best. I think I just cycled these to death after 2 years of hard use. I've scrapped them all and started using EV batteries for solar storage.

pouches need to be compressed, especially if you cycle them hard.

I would suspect the very small contact area of the rivets. The 36 volt packs from Alarm Hookup have a very large contact area across the whole tab that is bolted with a full width bus-bar.

It's possible. I'm not as familiar with pouch cells vs cylindrical cells. But my understanding is some of the "gas formation" is from improper clamping force of the cell itself.

Compression might be the issue but the holders don't compress them really I did like u the first 50 cells I bought were without holders and I used rivets then threaded rod and nuts and washers to build a 4s 10 p ran the rod through the rivets to connect multiple batteries to that configuration. The next time I bought 50 with th holders excited to have the holders this time I pulled them out and they don't compress the cells barely at all way better with just heat tape then the holders I see vids where there using bus bars with the holders and bolting down to the tabs of 2 at a time but I can't see how and there is no video showing exactly how they use the bus barsor how they bolt down to those tabs

The first battery I did with them I used nuts and bolts with washer "spacers" and did them 3P4S for a 12V battery, so they can be bolted together into thicker packs. It worked but was super sketchy and after 16 months or so it swelled up like a balloon. These cells are cool for the price, but I gave up on them completely and have moved on to cylindrical and EV cells since I only need powerwall levels of output.

Really I use these for 1 reason they get along very well with agm I used to have a 500 amp solenoid that would separate the different chemistrys so there was no draining or whatever but it felt like a choke poi b t so I did away with it 2 years ago

They have to be compressed properly also it sounds like your charge controller wasn't disconnecting at night and you may have been back feeding your panels

compression would probably have helped, but I think I just ran them to death with Cycles down too low voltage everyday almost

@@wilsworkshop these cells have to be compressed at the tabs. That's what the bars are for not to mention the threaded holes for studs or bolts so you can use plates
