2:00 defensive play was by design. Gibson "didn't think he saw something", he was playing what's called a "Robber" or "Bandit" position to the middle of the field. The remaining Safety rotates to a high position.

When Jones ripped of that big run late in that game, I thought our season was over. What a defensive stop! Then, Purdy, dug himself out of the hole and put a game winning drive together; followed by another Greenlaw INT. What a game!!! Couldn't be prouder!

Really insighful analysis of a tough game to watch, early on. When I watched Green Bay the previous week, I was sure our 10 point favorites would have their hands FULL. The Green Bay guys are young and play at full throttle. Hat's off to the coach and manager that put that team together. Early in this game, could not believe how many times they had a receiver "WIDE open", but your analysis answered some of that. I respect the fact that though the Niner's players were celebrating, they acknowledged their mistakes and were determined to fix what went wrong by next weekend. Our team has some real characters, but I think it's obvious this TEAM has CHARACTER. Go NINERS!

What I noticed a few times in that game was Purdy staying still in the pocket. It was odd. Usually he's adjusting his feet in the pocket while going through his reads but he was completely still a few times. I hope he works on throwing a wet ball. Seems to be one of his few weaknesses. Great job getting this video out so quickly, and with so much to cover, Josh. One good point that David Lombardi gave in his "unsung heroes" video this week - John Feliciano started instead of Burford because of Feliciano's great run blocking, and it paid off. I love to hear how folks other than the usual list of weapons have stepped up. It came down to a few plays here and there, and thank goodness for the entire team's full effort. A heart-pounder for sure - let's hope for an even better game this Sunday!

Thank you again for the great film review. This was one of the Purdy's worst game, but now we have enough sample sizes that it's not his standard, so I am very confident Purdy and the team will bounce back for this lion's game. Separately, I think Purdy should be practicing playing in the wet condition during the off-season. I want to him to survive for long time in this league. Playing in the rain is unavoidable.
@JoshBreakdowns

Thank you so much 🙏🙏. I agree with you 100%, Purdy is an overall outstanding player who comes through in the clutch even on a bad day. And you make an excellent point about the rain. I noticed he started off wearing a glove and then took it off. In my opinion, the glove has to be a way of life. You have to wear it 24/7 even during sunny games, or not at all. Maybe he will try that in the off-season.

Woooah baby! What a heart attack game!! Greenlaw Ballhawk 😅, CMC, obvious heros. But Jennings and even Aiyuk had some really gritty catches that we absolutely needed. Jennings full extension catch is a Catch 4 candidate for me. Rust Rain and a really good young GB team almost ended our season. Serious props to GB though they are NOT pretenders like dallas. Theyre gonna be good for awhile. Their offensive line is legit. Josh appreciate the long breakdown. We'll see ya next week. PS I'd like to see a little more "intestinal fortitude" from Deebo in big games like these.
@JoshBreakdowns
8 ай бұрын
Yeah those tough catches came up huge; Jennings and Aiyuk both were clutch. I agree with you, Green Bay has a bright future. They're just young but once they learn how to close the door on teams during the playoffs they'll be hard to stop, if not impossible. I'm not too worried about Deebo; obviously they were concerned enough to go get X-rays done. Hopefully it's just a severe sprain of some kind that he'll be able to play through, either next week or in a few weeks from now 😉. As always Scott thank you so much for your support 🙏🙏

@48:37 Everybody's saying Jordan Love just threw the ball up for grabs in the middle of the field. But if you look at the positioning of players as Love was throwing, he was probably aiming at the 40 yard line close to the sidelines where it could be caught by #85 Kraft if the ball was thrown far enough. But because Love was backpedalling, he couldn't throw it far enough.

We don't like to talk about it as 49ers fans but video replay was really brought back after that 1998 season because of a Jerry Rice play in the game against the Packers, if called correctly TO never gets that Catch II moment.
@JoshBreakdowns
8 ай бұрын
That play WAS shown to the committee in the off-season, but even under modern replay rules the whistle blew before there was a clear recovery. The play that was indisputable was the Vinny Testaverde scramble. Nevertheless, the two are still linked: Erickson was fired, and after TO made The Catch II, Holmgren was fired. Holmgren took Erickson's job in Seattle, and led them to their first ever Super Bowl appearance.

Something I noticed during the game and you can see at 12:04, Packers receivers were avoiding contact. Doubs in this case just runs our of bounds, he could probably get 5-10 more yards before contact, maybe break that tackle by Logan Ryan or Ward and go all the way, but he just steps out of bounds. Business decisions that probably cost them the game.

I cannot believe what I've heard since this game about how good Love is and how shaky Purdy is. Who won the game? Who threw the game losing interception? Who has a better record? Who has better stats? Who plays for the better team? If we still had Jimmy G or the previous 1st rounder who's name escapes me right now, we'd probably be watching another team playing for a Super Bowl berth right now.

hate to say it cause a win is a win and they’ll obviously take it, but Niners have a lot to figure out on both sides of the ball; even if they make it to the SB (no guarantee cause the Lions aren’t just gonna lay down) they’ll have to play A LOT better than this, regardless of whether they face KC or BAL
@channel_panel193

wait, noobie fan here. Why exactly don't they use the helmet to measure if its a first down?
@JoshBreakdowns
8 ай бұрын
They can only go by where the BALL is, and sometimes they don't have a clear view of the ball. In this case Love got very close but it was unclear where the ball was until later in the play, when Love had been pushed back. I still think, as I thought watching it Live, that he was short. When they measured, he was extremely close (within inches). The same rules apply to replay challenges, so if the camera does not have a clear view of the ball, the challenge will be unsuccessful. As cameras have become more and more advanced, little things like the spot of the ball have been more precisely officiated, as everything is potentially subject to review. The moment that set this into motion was the missed call in the Seahawks Jets game back in 1998.

The slips on defense, the blocked kick and the one huge run for 54 yards by gb..which to their credit was a good play but very uncharacteristic of the niners defense. The two interceptions by greenlaw was clutch. We got 2 breaks. The missed interception by greenbay and the missed fg by them. Lets go niners! Tume to turn it up vs the lions.
