I will never understand junkie pain then. . I gave my dad everything. A roof over his head, countless phones, money, and whatever the fuck. All I asked that he didn't bring people to my house. Stole from me laptops with projects I will never have or hear again among other stuff. The things I had to witness before I snapped out of the fucking fantasy land I built up. Just to hope it wasn't real when I saw it with my own eyes. Did not want help so I had to kick him out. Crystal and blues. My own father. . Can you tell me though, why he chose that over me? Please?
@SereneSimian
2 жыл бұрын
@@A5h3n. idk what was going on in his head. Usually trauma and childhood abuse creates the self-hatred that is at the root of addiction. They know they hurt themselves and do stupid things, but they keep doing them right? That's because at their core, they don't love themselves. How can someone that has no love for themselves therefore love someone else correctly? It was smart of you to finally distance yourself. A person like that is like someone who is drowning. Even an expert swimmer has a very high chance of getting pulled under the water by someone who is drowning in water. People with those addiction problems are drowning and flailing, and it's only natural if you love them to try to help them. But you often get burned in the process. My own dad is like that, just destroying his own life with booze and hurting those around him. That's why it's not the best option to enable them by saving them from their consequences. They have to suffer enough of their own pain they're avoiding by facing their own demons as well as their own destructive behavior. Sometimes you can't save them. It's like a slow suicide, and some come close enough to death to finally appreciate life and do better for themselves and those around them. Don't take it personally, they inflict pain on everyone. That doesn't mean you deserved it. Also, it's not your work to suffer with them. All you can do is try to understand that any addictive behavior is protecting them from something darker inside their mind. It's the lesser of two evils. You're a casualty on the path of their destruction. It's likely you've learned some kind of self-hate by growing up around a person like that, that's how cycles continue through generations. Sometimes the best we can do is learn to take their best traits, but not repeat their mistakes. Sadly, many suffering from addiction never get the courage to face their demons without the help of drugs. Try to make peace and grieve with the possibility of him never overcoming it. And love those who can return your love in a healthy way. Lastly, look up the video "Everything you know about addiction is wrong" by Dr. Gabor Mate here on youtube. And stay strong.

I think this scene is supposed to point out the hypocrisy of white culture. Sure, the foos seem scandalous and out of place but it's only in the context of this "high society" gathering of white folk. One of the first times we see Montana later in this movie, he is posted up in the chow hall reading "The Wretched of the Earth," a book which talks about the mentality of colonisers and the colonised. Those ideas can be used to explain what we see here. There's a pervasive sense of superiority in this scene. We feel like the foos are out of control. Yet the white people are also socializing and doing drugs. Alcohol (ethanol) is on par with heroin and crack in terms of damage to oneself and society. They're high. The foos are doing their own parallel version of the same activity. In a Latino gathering, they'd be normal - they're goofing, cracking jokes, and enjoying themselves. It's all love, and they're really not all that different. The ultimate irony is that white folks are there to "supposedly" appreciate and connect with Chicano culture, through art. The phoniness is revealed as the subjects in the paintings arrive and are rejected. The white folk want exotic trophies, to look sophisticated and worldly to their white friends. Yet they cringe away from the living embodiments of Chicano culture when they get too close for comfort. The juxtaposition of white and brown culture here creates an intense awkwardness for the white folks and the viewers. Two very different worlds collide. The result? The yts become uncomfortable, shifty, and anxious to boot them out. There's literally a miniature white flight away from the brown people. The fake nervous smiles plastered on their faces are contrasted by the carefree smiles on the foos. They will gladly take from the culture of the colonised, but they will not see or mingle with them as equals. Notice @ :50 how the white dude says they look so noble? I doubt that choice of words by the writers was a coincidence. It's a reference to the idea of the "noble savage" an old racist term used by conquering white people to describe the indigenous. Anyhow i didn't mean to go off and write a whole damn essay, but I love this movie for its social commentary lol
@demarcusjenkins5314

What an idiotic response. As a Latino myself, it's people like this who have disgraced my culture. The White people in the video have been nothing but nice to the artist and has friends, and they should be grateful to have been given the chance to sell out an art show. And how do they show their gratitude? By giving the finger and trashing the place. Fuck them. And anyone who represents the Latin culture as low class trash. And you wonder why people look down on us? Don't blame the 'colonizers' Blame your own disrespectful self for keeping our image down.
