Pull train - three hundred wagons, You, brother, on the shoulder! I congratulate the driver For you in life - a pond of happiness!

Great landscapes. Crazy grades. But my question is about a curve. At Alp-Grum (1:27) the main track and siding leave the station spaced wide for the platform, narrow to typical spacing, then narrow more leaving no space for passing. The operational affect is like gantlet or interlaced track, but it remains two separated tracks. The tracks then move apart to nearly normal spacing right before the tangent approaching the switch. Why? Was the desire to have a minimum radius for the inside curve while avoiding a curved switch? Swiss railways seem not to avoid curved switches in other situations.

@Alan MusicMan As Territet indicated, this is a Swiss version of a gauntlet track where only one train at a time operates. @Jw Slijm That is the Swiss version of a gauntlet track. Only one train at a time uses this stretch of right-of-way.
