National Sanuki Manno Park, located inland in Kagawa Prefecture, has a "Hydrangea Garden" where 20,000 hydrangeas of about 40 varieties can be seen, usually at their best during the rainy season from early June to early July. This video introduces the highlights of the "Hydrangea Garden.
National Sanuki Manno Park is the only national park in Shikoku and is located northeast of Mannoike, one of the largest reservoirs in Japan. Visitors can enjoy the spectacular view of the vast flower garden, one of the largest in Shikoku, with tulips, nemophilas, hydrangeas, kochia, cosmos, and other flowers in every season, and beautiful flowers greet visitors any time of the year.
Passing through the stone corridor leading from the park entrance, visitors will arrive at "Shoryu-no-taki Waterfall," which has been selected as one of the 88 scenic spots on Shikoku Island! The man-made waterfall, which flows through vertical masonry and has a drop of approximately 9 m, is a symbol of the park, and from this waterfall you can access the main spots in the park, including the lawn area and flower garden.
The "Hydrangea Garden" is located by the "Hiryu Pond," and visitors can walk along the wooden path around the pond to appreciate the hydrangeas.
The "Hydrangea Festival" is held from early to late June, and "umbrella rentals" of Japanese umbrellas and colorful umbrellas (free of charge) are available, allowing visitors to stroll around with an umbrella as an item to enjoy the rainy season.
The walking trail includes a spectacular view of hydrangea colonies that fill the 3- to 4-meter-high slopes, like a "cliff of hydrangeas"!
The "Hydrangea Garden" is a barrier-free structure with stairs and a ramp, allowing visitors in wheelchairs and strollers to enjoy strolling through the hydrangea garden. There is a space where visitors can sit comfortably on benches and appreciate the hydrangeas, and a "hydrangea road" leads up the hillside stairs. During the blooming season, visitors can enjoy a tea ceremony while admiring the hydrangeas and a brave Japanese drum performance.
