Bonjour! This Summer, I spent a few days traveling in the Montreal area, in Quebec Canada! It's always been a must for me to visit Montreal, so it was wonderful finally checking it off the good ol' bucket list. I managed to get some pretty decent action considering I didn't railfan too much. The action from CN and CP is pretty decent in the Western part of the Island, thanks to the yards that send most traffic towards the Toronto and Western areas. Some freight traffic does indeed come from Atlantic Canada, passing through Montreal, but that is much less.
I focused my attention mainly on the Western part of the Island, mainly between Dorval and L'Île-Perrot. CN's Kingston Subdivision adn CP's Vaudreuil Subdivision run side by side in this area, providing awesome action on both mainlines! I also ventured off the island to Saint Lambert, located on the CN St. Hyacinthe Subdivision. Action here is less than on the island, but still managed to get 3 trains in about an hour. The classic searchlights here provide a wonderful backdrop for the passing trains.
In the next video, we will focus on the EXO Commuter Trains around Montreal! This operation formerly called the AMT runs all throughout the Montreal metro area. Stay tuned!
