Huge rabbit hole is right! Its insane with the vast amount of setup these things can be. The VP World is not for the weak and timid! If anyone gets into this world and buys a VP,I would suggest that you clone the hard drive and have a backup in case something goes wrong, and I hate to say this but it most likely will go wrong at some point especially if you start trying to update and add new tables. I make HD backups of all my pc based games of any type that requires lots of setup. My custom touch screen jukebox has probably 100 hours of setup and my mame launchbox build has mega hours… I have one of those POS gameking/babystar/burgerboard setups and I also cloned the hd from it as well. Clone clone clone your hd’s !!!!

Yeah original machine would be so cool to own a couple of them. Only need also to get some more knowledge to service them myself. Did see couple of your pinball fix machine vids where very interesting. Yeah VP is a fun way to play and affortible sometimes. Thanks.. stickers are custom art from the store I bought the kit from.

NOTHING beats real pinball machines. No matter how advanced pinball machines get, there is just no beating them. The need to be brought back with modern tech in them. Why not? Nvm, I just watched this all the way threw...nice.

Good you kept it! So I was kinda happily surprised seeing this video :). I still remember how awesome things look on this machine in real life (like the virtual Harry Potter pinball you had on there!) But I agree with you concerning the software (just like with emulation) so many things seem so unnecessarily so complex(not even mentioning the hardware as you are showing here can also go wrong). This is also the reason why consoles (especially Nintendo) are so popular... You can more easily just pick up and play without needing to go into things. Hyperspin and other things can make things look so awesome, but also here it's another layer of already quite complex emulators/software which is not interesting for the average gamer (that already knows way more about this than the average person). But keep a good eye on the scene, I've heard there are some major new things coming up that can rock the scene. One of them is the Unreal Engine 5 and Unity based versions of Visual Pinball that should bring the whole sense or reality to a new level.

I can totally understand that. After having this thing dead in the corner for 1.5 month I realized if I sell it. It's matter of time I bought another one to be honest. Pinball is something I love forever and so only cheap way was to upgrade it. The Kit i bought was in sale because of the 9e gen Intel and had most parts. PSU was overkill only did not want to have trouble with it again so ... better spend more money on that. Got some help with it in the end from people around me that motivated me to keep it to. Also improved it here and there almost wanted to get the special force feedback motor. Did not do it ... for me it's ok this way. If I want the Ultimate machine I can rather buy a new one from Australia from RetroPlay. In the end He makes the Ultimate Machines Full Size with every single piece of tech that is possible to use for VP.. Edit - Ow most important I took 1 week off doing KZitem to relax and spend my free time on my VP hobby for once. Than grinding videos all day long 😅

I have one comment about the power supply: a modular power supply does not mean you can swap it out without removing the cables from the machine. There is no standard about how modular power supplies attach the cables to the box, and as such, all brands have different layouts, sometimes even within the same brand. If you're not replacing the supply with the exact same model, there's a big chance you will fry one or more components.

Just a small ideal. If you put a camera with head tracking maybe it can be modded to manipulate the paralax effect of the table based on the head position. Not too big deal based on the players head is always in the same place most of the time.

i am so used to playing virtual pinball and started of by playing pinball dreams and fantasies on the amiga. then going to pinball arcade which was amazing then i had the Zen FX, FX2 and FX3 which just got even better as technology got better. did not play many real pinball tables as there are not many in my area in the uk. i just wish i had the nohow how to do a cabinet as it all looks so complicated with all the hardware and sorting out the software would for each one would just be a head ache for me. but i have to say that table looks amazing and i love the artwork on the sides to and thanks for sharing.

The software is not complicated, there´s an all-in-one installer available that sets everything simple and fast. You have to put 4 exciters inside that so you can feel the vibrations of the ball.
@JohannesSchmitz
2 жыл бұрын
The problem seems to be a missing air intake. Maybe put some slits in the bottom of the housing just in front of the mainboard. Then air can flow in, over the mainboard, through the CPU fan and out the back.

For the power supply does it exhaust out on the bottom? The fan part with a filter to easily clean? Sucks the original one stopped working, maybe get a good power surge strip to protect your system. Oh in the future get a low lowered gpu, it will put less stress on the power supply and less heat
@erikkarsies4851
2 жыл бұрын
For a emulator like this a B650/ i3 10150F combo would be cheaper and would generate a lot less heat and consume less power. I dont think this pinball emulator uses more than 1 or 2 cores. Anything with more than 4 cores is serious overkill.

I love your candor and feel your pain. Great video thank you. Interested in building my own pinball machine and have watched many KZitem posts showing many DIY builds but the failure of components seems far too common. Repaired many computers over the years and some fixes have been simply unplugging boards and refitting or re-seating memory sticks so I'm thinking all those vibrations from speakers, subs and knockers could be a problem ?

I still dont know why people choose to put their pc inside the cabinet. It just creates heat and getting to it is usually a pain in the ass. If your gonna put it inside the cabinet, atleast use a all in one liquid cpu cooler so your pc wont heat up the inside of your machine. Just my opinion.
