They had engineers around the days of when Eagle and Jeep were a separate division that would have built it like this. That's how the Wrangler and Cherokee had been updated by that division: just updated to fuel injection and started modernizing the suspension and transmissions. Transfer case also got updated and rolled out as well just before they got rolled into the truck division and started to get ignored, like they had never made something that was durable and in demand. Yeah, Jeeps are so hard to sell even though they lasted forever Mr. CEO and Head of Marketing.

The front and rear bumpers look nice so i have to give that a shot .. i just added a pac brake , the in line model . Used a shifter knob off a 10 speed with a electric swith added to it to control the pac brake . I added a after market cruise control as the switches are no longer Available for the 95 on the steering wheel .. Since this is a type of prototype show truck.. If that engine has a regular alternator (which I can see that it does)-- you guys should install a "premier power welder".. It replaces the alternator with a special higher output alternator, and then comes with a little control box where you hook up your welding leads. Super simple and reliable. All the offroad tow trucks use them and they weld like a champ; and they are well under two grand. They even have a spool gun to go with it for another four hundred or so. That would give this thing that much more utility and show it off even better. Perfect for a prototype.

This is a great project that I am very interested to see the final result. But I do have one concern, this being that I don’t necessarily think that a dyno is the best way to compare the two powertrains. For raw horse power fighters sure. But you were talking about comparing fuel combustion figures during the test. I don’t see how these figures would be relevant as dyno tests are by nature high power runs. In this situation most of the energy used would be coming out of the battery. Even if you could somehow remove the batteries out of the system for the run you still wouldn’t get a true picture as you would not be taking into account regen.

I like how the back bumper looks, but I don’t like how the front one fits. Sticks out too wide on the sides and the swoop up under the headlights doesn’t line up with the inside edge of the headlights, and is overall too bulky looking for that style of truck. Looks like if it got cut down the center, shorten, then welded back together and then probably paint it body color. I think it would look a lot better. But that’s just my opinion.

I wonder how setups will vary depending on the vehicle. I want to have a service truck for electronics. So a GMC long contractor van would work for me. I need outlets to power a hot air station, fume extraction etc. Would you mount the engine in the middle behind the cabin and batteries under the engine bay? So you'd have easier access to the engine? Or traditionally and have a partition behind the cabin again for additional batteries or even a second gen set to power my tools in the back? I don't think they'd pull that much current, but they're mostly heating elements.
