Indo-European Youth Orchestra is the first Western Classical Chamber/Youth Orchestra from India that performed in Europe. The first historic concert in Europe was held in Budapest, Hungary at the Danube Palace Hall on 18th August 2019. This was the first time any India-based Chamber Orchestra performed in Europe before the local music lovers and presented traditional European classical music and Indian Raag-based music performance with flair. IEYO is now a well-known Orchestra in this part of Europe for its intercultural music performance.
IEYO not only performs the greats like Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, and Brahms, but it also has a special repertoire that includes Raga-based music precisely written for a Western Classical designed orchestra by Maestro Michael Rupam Makhal - who already has an admiring and loyal audience for his specialized intercultural orchestral music compositions in the USA, UK, Italy, Hungary, and India. Maestro Makhal’s latest work for Violin solo and String Orchestra - ‘Sangram in Raga Todi’ was performed in Budapest by young solo Violinist Sangeetha Ramanuj from Bengaluru/US, who is a student of Ambi Subramaniam. The concert of 2024 also included a special composition by Dr. L Subramaniam, called Nadapriya, which was performed by Sangeetha along with the orchestra. The repertoire this year had works of greats, namely, Mozart, Brahms, and Haydn. The concert commenced with the National Song of India Vande Mataram and concluded with Saare Jahan se Achcha.
