This summer I had the pleasure of working with John, a provincial rugby player. He fractured his fourth metatarsal bone in his foot three weeks before nationals. He was told not to put weight on his foot for four weeks. He played with no pain!
"Basically, bottom of foot planted, pressure was put on it by another player, rest of my body moved forward along with the rest of the foot fracturing the fourth metatarsal. How long ago? About one week. Can you put your feet right together? So yesterday was your first treatment and you're back the next day for another treatment so I just want to see how you're feeling today. It's great. Decreased swelling, increased mobility, I can put full weight on it. Just a little pain left to deal with and then I think it'll be healed up. Terrific. And are you having to use your crutches today at all? No, not at all. Not today, not yesterday. Excellent, thank you so much. So it is Thursday August 2nd, what was the date that your fractured your foot? One week and three days from today. So ten days ago fractured the fourth metatarsal told to stay off of it for one month, third treatment in five days and clearly it's better. August 2nd, fractured that foot just ten days ago and left foot, turning 18 today, provincial rugby player, look at me and smile John. John what do you think about what we've done. It's amazing. I'm sold. Super. Two weeks since fractured foot, now hopping on it. Were you able to practice on Sunday? What did you feel, what did you notice? A little bit of soreness, a little bit of pain on the push off but that's about it. But you were able to function and do your stuff? Yup, oh yeah, fully functional. Are you going to be playing in nationals next week? Of course."
