Karl and Katy . What model ‘Maxtrax’ are you using ? We are in the process of purchasing an Isuzu NPS 300 Motorhome and will most likely need to call on a set of these in our travels, even if it is just on The beach and can’t see much difference ( other than double the cost ) between the Maxtrax 11 and the Maxtrax Extreme. Just wondered if maybe the more expensive takes the heavier load a lot better or just a selling point, being, more expensive is better ? Cheers, love the videos . Our truck is also coming from ALL TERRAIN WARRIORS. Cheers, iain and christa.

Hey we definitely didn’t buy the extreme, but maxtrax are definitely good value. ATW do a great job we have no regrets 👍
@nowhereboundtouring
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lain, Just to add…. The extreme has steel “knobs” for traction. These are more resistant to wheel spin. You should no be spinning you wheels on any type of traction board ( no matter the brand) , but sometimes you just can’t help it. The load rating is the same on both. I think the maxtrax’s are the most durable ( bending resistant under the weight) out of all the brands available, that’s why we purchased them. I would recommend buying 4. 2 would not be as effective with the weight of the truck. Cheers, karl

Wondering what tyre pressures you're running on the sand? When Katty asked whether there was anything that could've been done differently, I was expecting Karl to mention pressures....either reduce them *some more* or possibly just "reduce the tyre pressures". I run 50/60psi front/back in the Chevy and in that sort of sand would have expected to reduce them to 25/35 or maybe even less.....but then again mine only weighs 5 tonne and I'm guessing yours weighs around 8 tonne? Just curious.... Glad to see you're still having a ball.

Hey Bill, hope you are both still enjoying your travels too. we were running a little more than we need to but not much. Even if we had gone down lower the diff was buried so probably wouldn't have made much diff. was good to test out the max tracks anyway 😂😂 Stay safe 👍

from experience as a kid who lived in that area, even a normal old 2 wheel drive truck with very low pressure will get thru lots. It might well have made a difference for you too. We had an old Commer ute thing late 1940s model and nothing could stop it...maybe mud was all. I am concerned about the driving on those pristine sand hills and the environmental damage, plus encouraging others to do the same. An Uncle owned much of that land spent lots of time trying to keep people out of those sand hills and that was early 1960s,. I feel your sending out a bad message to others
@nowhereboundtouring

@@dryroo I understand your concerns but we don't tend to go where no one else has been in a sand dune. We also take at least a bag of rubbish away from every place we go because there are some feral's out there. I appreciate the advice on the tyre pressures but trucks can't go as low as cars or it will come away from the rim. We are trying to encourage people to explore Australia and keep the money here, as we live in a beautiful place. I am all for the dunes being shut off but until then we will continue to show safe and interesting ways of travelling our beautiful country. Cheers Katty
