I came down here to near the confluence of the Mississippi & Des Moines Rivers, out on " The Bottoms " to hopefully catch a train, and while waiting, maybe hyperlapse some growing thunderstorms, while hopefully waiting for the " Full Flower Moon " to peak out from behind ! My best laid plans frequently go up in smoke ! As did this one!
The " Heating of the Day " was gone, and the Low Level Jet never materialized ( locally ) to feed developing storms. Although two Supercells do pop, they are difficult to see clearly.
A clearing line is approaching, which is what I had hoped would reveal the Moonrise, but now I realize it will just provide me with a sunset .
And The Wever Turn makes it across the Des Moines River before dark .
It's a long-distance shot on a curve as it exits the Des Moines River Bridge on a curve, and both sides of the train are visible simultaneously.
The first portion is sped-up and has music. As those worn-out old Warbonnets approach, I slow the video to 1/2 speed as they glide by. As they get out of sight, it's back to normal speed and a pretty SUNSET !
