The Hemi is a really easy engine to rebuild. Getting it out and putting it back in is the hardest part.

Great video. Did the rocker arms have any play when the valves were closed? The open valves are tight but when I rotate the engine the closed valves rocker arms have quite a bit of play. just like when I disassembled it with a bad camshaft.

does it matter which way to align the piston rings or you can just install them
@mechanicalmayhem7958
Жыл бұрын
It does matter, I like to stagger by 180 degrees. Doesn’t have to be exact just make sure the opening’s on each ring are far apart from each other. If they are all the same you risk compression issues or uneven wear in the cylinders.

As can be seen in the video, the rear main seal is held in place with five 8 millimeters bolts. Per the dodge service manual these “rear seal retaining bolts” require 11 foots pounds of torque. Hope this helps.

Header should say How not to build a motor! You didn't check crank bearing clearance,piston ring clearance, rod bearing clearance, ring position, then uses motor oil to assemble when you be using engine assembly oil. Please do not follow this kids example. Unless you want to be rebuilding your motor again within 500 miles.

When I was a 17yo kid - I did the same thing with VW bug engines. Awesome job, you are building it for yourself so don’t get discouraged when someone says you did it wrong. You got more value out of this project then a class in technical college. Run that engine till it blows then build another one - you will only get more skill as you get your hands dirty!
