Thanks for the tips. I’ll probably overlap the edges to give it a more of a origami look.

Hi Mark. What a great idea. I think I can see that in my head. I have a potter friend who makes round lids for some of his pots by turning the wood on a lathe which I think would be so fun. A clover shaped lid would be a bit more challenging to construct, Im thinking jigsaw the shape, and then perhaps a router along the bottom lid edge to bevel to fit inside the clay, and then along the top edge to round the top? Then drill out and carve the hole parts. Very inspiring. Thanks Mark.

❤ Hi Ann, you are definitely wonderful! Can you please tell me how many centimeters you made the plates for the pieces? the clay you opened and kneaded. I love ceramics, but my least favorite thing is kneading… And why not use your feet and give your back a rest?! ahah… Even in that you are creative! Always grateful. Thank you very much for the links provided. ❤

Hi Vanessa. Thanks for watching and for all the kind words. Im glad you liked it...and the feet technique, haha. Im not sure what you are asking about as far as the plates for the pieces. do you mean the templates? I have a link to the templates in the description section. I put some of the measurements on them to give you an idea of how big I made them, but usually people screen shot them, then print them out in the size that they prefer. As far as centimeters go, I measured them in inches but most rulers here have inches on one side and centimeters on the other. Do you have the same thing where you are?
@Vanessa.1000
11 ай бұрын
@@annruel1982 Ann, i did what you said in relation to the links, so I could later print it in the size I want, but what I asked about the centimeters was the thickness of the dough when stretched with the rolling pin?! just to give you an idea, if you can say so, of course! It will depend on whether your dough shrinks a lot when baking or not, it depends on the dough used, but I'm still always worried about making the pieces too thin or too thick. Thank you and have a nice weekend 🌷
@annruel1982

@@Vanessa.1000 OH, I understand now. Each slab was rolled out with a rolling pin to 1/4 in thick. Would that be a bit over 6 mm? What I did was to place a long ruler on either side of the slab and then rolled the slab between those two rulers. the rulers that I have are about 1/4 inch thick so it worked out perfectly. I got my rulers from the paint section of my hardware store if that helps. Good luck.

Hey High Desert. Jim is right...we have a very strict production schedule each week as we do the videotaping on Monday, he has to edit all the videotape, I then write a script and do the audio. Of course everyone likes to see the finished pieces too so I had to have time to finish everything with the glazing and firing and videotaping those.
