I've been doing photography as a hobby for a good few years now, studied TV/Film production at college which of course meant a lot of transferable skills and I fell more and more in love with photography over film-making as time went on. Having spent the last month or so binging your videos and those of other similar channels, I've decided to begin taking the steps to becoming a full time landscape photographer, you've been one of the main driving factors in that decision so I want to genuinely thank you for unknowingly giving me that extra little push and inspiration to embark on this. Thanks man and keep up the great work, this channel is a goldmine for those just starting out as well as more experienced photogs

Mark. Great video to help my workflow. I tend be all over the place when I edit which makes things take forever. I did notice one thing at about 12:00When adjusting the Luminance value it also really changed the water. I tend to use the HSL sliders with a brush tool rather than doing a global setting. Anyway, really great edit.

You have really helped me so much over the last couple of years with my landscape photography and editing with LRC. Your relaxed and gentle approach makes it so easy to understand. @julian2077

I always wondered this too. HSL really changes specific colors, while the calibration changes (for example when you change blue) the general blue parts of every single pixel in the image. If you know what I mean..

Nice tips! Instead of doing the shift click on the individual parameters, I click on the auto button which I think gives the same results and then tweak from there. The calibration part was new to me so I will experiment with that. Thanks!

Hello Mr. Mark, First I would like to thank you for all the videos that you have been making. I really appreciate the time and the efforts. I just have a small suggestion. If you have time to make a series about Lightroom from A to Z (as much as you can.) Starting with the basics and explaining every part of it and how to use it. You can also upload a RAW photo and put the link with every video in the series, so other people can download it and follow the editing step by step with you. Thanks again and have a good one ^_^

Hitting the auto key will let LR make the decision on the setting.........but, if you hit each separately it will be the same setting as the auto. This holds true for each in basic, except for white and black balance

Mark One slider you seemed to avoid was the Dehaze, do you have a practical use for it. I find if you move to the + side it really helps to show up dust spots especially in the sky. I use it either in ACR or LR but I can't imagine it was designed for that use. Enjoyed the video Thanks.

Hi Mark, my name is Brian, I Found you while listing to a podcast interview with David Johnston. You could have been telling my beginning story as you told yours. My first camera was a Canon AE-1. My first DSLR was... wait for it....Canon Rebel T3i LOL! I am not completely new to landscape photography, but like you were at 1 point, I am kind of in a place where selling a photo to buy a lens or something that will improve/inhance my skills would be a plus. This video showed things in LR that I didn't know. SHIFT+ slider to get a read on the adjustments. On that, isn't that basically the same as clicking auto? I have no problem being wrong,( I have a wife,, lol ) so correct me if so. The other thing was the Orton effect. I have tried it based on KZitem and Google searches, but can't seem to get the same look. I see a ton of images that have that soft dreamy almost painting look to them and I have some photos that would look amazing with that feel. I am retired at 58 so I have time to learn. lol Althougjt actually becoming a "PRO" photographer and running a business may be past my time for that. Making extra money is always fun but.....! The big thing for me is, composing an image where the subject tells a story and grabs the viewers attention. Any idea where I can find help with finding that creative part of composition? Thanks for taking the time to read this long diatribe. Love your work and will be watching more now that I am subbed. Brian!
