My wife and I visited Huntsville earlier today (Saturday) to visit Lowe's Mill. I spoke with an employee at Irons One Distillery there and had my first Penicillin cocktail. I mentioned your channel and he bookmarked it to subscribe. I'm on the lookout for Larceny's Barrel Proof B-524 (hope I have the nomenclature right). It is supposed to be liquid nectar of the goods at an excellent price point.

@@BourbonBammer My opinion only: Irons One product makes a far better cocktail than it does a neat or rocks pour.

I agree. I would like to have it at a higher proof.

List is spot on overall. Subbed. Do a five way blind between these.

As a general rule, "full proof" refers to the maximum barrel entry proof under US law, which is 125 proof, and "barrel proof" means whatever proof the whisky is right out of the barrel, whether it's 124.6 or 139.2 or 140.7 or whatever. But it turns out that those terms don't have legal definitions, so sometimes they mean something different. 4:03 JD SBBP is *fine* whisky. Because of my budget barrel proof whisky is generally out my reach. But this past 10 days I've had considerable extra fundage to work with, and so I can list not necessarily *barrel* proof bottles, but certainly higher proof ones. 1. Balcones True Blue corn whisky - I had this last year as a Total Wine store pick 2. Knob Creek Single Barrel Select - a Kelly Liquors store pick 3. Still Austin Cask Strength 4. Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof - I've had two different barrels so far, the first at 128.2 proof and the second at 130.9 5. Bulleit Barrel Strength I could easily become a proof hound, if I could afford it. The more proof the better the the taste. 🥃

You've got to give that JD a try. The barrels recently have been phenomenal and they seem to be everywhere

Find a JD BP over 130 proof and thank me later. I agree it shouldn’t be on this list because JD doesn’t consider it a bourbon, it’s still Tennessee whiskey. Also 1792 full proof is not barrel proof so doesn’t belong on this list.

Old forester barrel proofs are too hot and overpriced. I’d rather pay secondary for Stagg, how is it not on this list? No Bookers?

I don’t own any stagg or bookers. But, it sounds like they would be on your list. Which one would be #1 for you?

Full proof generally means that water is added after to return the whiskey back to the proof that it went into the barrel. So for 1792 FP, after blending the proof came out to 127.5, water is added until it’s 125.
