Dalmore 12yr is one of my favorites! Balvenie 14 is great too!

Dalmore is for sure a good one. Little low on the proof side tho.

I'm a scotch drinker that is curious about bourbon :) My collection is 75% scotch, 20% bourbon and 5% other. Of the 75% scotch, 50% is heavily peated.

I’m in this camp as well. From the bourbons I have tried and liked I have found that I actually prefer wheated bourbons. Some of my favorite bottles of bourbon / American whiskey are Knob Creek select 120, makers mark CS, JD SB Barrel Strength, Redwood Empire Pipe Dream, Woodford DO, 1792 FP, Elijah Craig Toasted. What are you favorite pleated scotches? Cheers on your journey!

@@LiveiLLogic Octomore is my favorite thou I don't buy it anymore due to the price. I have had a dram from every octomore numbered release starting with 1.1 to 12. Port Charlotte is another goto. I love Laphroaig and Ardbeg. I also enjoy non-islay peated such as Ardmore, Ledaig and Talisker. If you like English whiskey, Cotswold has a great peated CS.

I mainly drink bourbon, but do enjoy Bruichladdich clasic laddie as a scotch.

That’s one of the few Islay exceptions, as it’s unpeated. Very good!

I started with scotch but I enjoy them all. Certainly have more bourbon whiskey than scotch but I still enjoy them. I’ve been working on peated scotch. That’s a tough road.

Yeah peated can be tough if you don’t like it right away.

I like all scotches peaty or fruity. My favorite distillery is Dailuaine followed by closely Octomore and then Mortlach.

I can honestly say I’ve never heard of Dailuaine. Also Octomore is from Bruichladdich, just fyi. We’re finally doing an episode with some Octomore here very soon, and I’m really pumped about it!

@@GentlemenandWhiskey Dailuaine is used mostly in blends. As such they only have one standard release. You need to buy independent bottling of their juice to try it. Luckily there are many.

To add to your list a Bourbon drinker may like the Clynelish 14 year, Longmorn 16 year (don’t let the lower proof deter you), Glenfarclas 105 would another one.

Great additions! I think traditionally the biggest gripe I hear with bourbon drinkers trying scotch is the low proof, but if it’s sufficiently flavorful it should transcend that
@TheReal_DeanD

@@GentlemenandWhiskey I think another gripe would be the maltiness that kind of makes you think of baby vomit you both mentioned and the viscosity. A mid to high proof Bourbon can have a great mouthfeel and a finish that will stay with you. Some scotches are just thin and the finish doesn't linger. That is my experience at least. Another Scotch to add to your list may be Glen Garioch aged in Virgin Oak casks or GlenAllachie aged in Virgin Oak casks. These can punch you in the mouth in a good way just warning though price could be expensive for all these vs Bourbons.

Okay, how about the flip side? I'm a scotch drinker and my mom is a bourbon drinker. I'm not a huge fan, but don't mind drinking on occasion. What are your top 5 bourbons that would be good to try?

So seems like you’re more into the lower proof scotch offering, so something like Old Forester 86, or Basil Hayden’s might be up your alley. We did a video recently on best bourbon for beginners, check that out, it might have something that you’re interested in!
