The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud kzitem.infoUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!

My Vitamix doesn't especially have Model # or series. It was the only one available at the time. It is all 33 years ago and all metal. The selling points were a Lifetime warranty, it was shown to be so durable that it could turn wooden toy blocks into sawdust. A reversing motor, and that the speed of the blades heat the contents (soup,etc.) that is poured through the attached spout. Also using ice cubes, it freezes the contents into ice cream. I used my Vitamix to grind my grain into flour. Then the Vitamix would turn added ingredients together to make bread after kneading it. All in all, it was a great Wedding present, and shows no sign of problems. But with a Lifetime warranty shows that they put pride in their workmanship.

OMG, Vitamix is not doing themselves any favors by having so many different models/options. It gives me anxiety just trying to figure out which one to buy (I currently have AT LEAST 10 tabs open for this). This is honestly the reason I haven't bought one yet (I've wanted one for years). This video and your website has really helped to clear things up so I think I will be buying one very soon, THANK YOU.

Sounds like the problem is you. But if you really need help with this, just do this, buy the cheapest reconditioned Vitamix you can with the 3 yr warrantee. IMHO, there is probably a 99% chance you will never need it serviced anyway. You'll probably have it 'till your dead! Then it doesn't matter anyway. Have it berried with you - I don't care but just buy it, use it and enjoy it. I bought ours on QVC and never regretted it whatsoever. Maybe I could have saved money buying from Vitamix directly but I really don't care because it's the BEST made. Don't wait anymore! BUY IT!! Geez! 🤨

At this point I might want to try a smart system model that could work with other self detect attachments and the longer warranty, although I am very happy with my 5200. We do use it mostly for smoothies, frozen fruit 'icecream", and for grinding flax seed and flours, and it's used mostly everyday.

It will be a truly sad day for America if Vitamix ever stops making the 5200 Legacy. Not counting on that ever happening but if it did, then did I'd have to buy one of the last ones off the production line even though I don't need one. I'd just keep it as a backup in storage, in the event my 20 year old 5200 were to somehow become unfixable. That machine is so tough, I'm convinced it will outlast ME. I've tried the other models and they're alright. The newer machine designs aren't so much of an issue, but the newer wide jar designs don't work as efficiently as the classic tall jar design. The wider jars with longer blades cause "ingredient hop" which makes everything bounce around violently inside, ricocheting off the blades and slamming into the sides of the jar, rather than forcing it to cycle smoothly and vertically through the jar. This has the unfortunate side effect of aerating and whipping the ingredients because the jar design does not restrict their movement, making things come out more frothy and bubbly than they did in the classic jars. This is most noticeable when you're only filling up half the jar to make a single serving item. It's simply not the same kind of mixing vortex that the classic designs became famous for; that pattern has been right there in their logo for ages. And you didn't hear it from me, but in every circumstance I've tried, the classic jar designs seem to work just fine on the newer blenders, so give it a whirl if you have a newer machine and see if you don't agree. It's also a sign of our times that people think they need timer settings to use a blender. The "automatic programs" and "wireless jar detection" features are ultimately gimmicks to get people with short attention spans to part with their money. They're completely unnecessary if you posses more than a single brain cell. If you adjust your recipe in any way on a timed program, the ratio of ingredients means a timed setting won't produce the expected result, so you'll end up altering your blending time along with your ingredients anyways. This is all very easily solved by ... blending it yourself with manual controls! It doesn't take a lot intuition to know how long something needs to blend; you don't really even need to count seconds in your head, you can just see and hear what's going on inside the jar. It's ultimately your money to spend, but if you want some life advice from someone who's tried a fair share of overpriced kitchen gadgets with unnecessary features, just save your money for more important things and stick with what's worked for decades. You can't improve on perfection.

I have the 5200, but find it is more than I need. For someone who only cooks for two, I think something a little smaller would serve us better like the E310 with the 48oz container, I'm sure that fits under a cabinet which I would prefer. Since I usually only use my blender for smoothies and an occasional soup, that would serve us the best. Thanks for the great comparison review.

Based on that alone, I will never get rid of it. However, because of its height, I have to store it in a cabinet. I think I would like to have a second model...Leaning toward the 3500 for its low profile aesthetic that would compliment my kitchen.

I always think I want bigger but after buying one with a large container that has no option to add any smaller containers, I find I want smaller containers because they'd be easier to handle and clean. And I won't be able to overfill and make more than I really want to make. I think I'd prefer the Vitamix E310 with the 48 oz container, or maybe even better would be the Venturist V1200 with the really small container. I want to make smoothies and nut butters. I also just saw a video on grinding meat in the blenders, so I'd like to do that because ground chicken and turkey prices have skyrocketed. I'd also like to make mayo and some sauces. Bigger isn't always better, that's for sure.

It seems a lot of the blinders have reconditioned options. If they have that many reconditioned units to sell, doesn’t that call the quality into question? You have to have a lot of failures to be able to sell reconditioned full time. If Toyota had so many lemons you could walk into the dealer and pick a lemon over a new model, wouldn’t you question the initial quality? Am I wrong on this?
@BlenderBabes

Purchased a 5200 series blender years ago, and at the time Vitamix were releasing the wide jar models. I called Vitamix and was told that both narrow and wide models blend well, but the narrow 5200 series does a better/faster job, especially for small batches due to the narrow blend vortex. The wide jar, as was explained in the video, is designed for medium to large size batches but takes a bit longer due to the wider blend vortex. I also asked about motor size, and was told the wide jar models need a slightly bigger motor to perform as well as the classic narrow models. A couple of years ago we also purchased a Explorian E310 with the narrow 48 Oz container and it performs the same as the 5200 series but is a bit louder. Not sure if it's louder because we use it in a much smaller area, or because the motor is different. One final note if you are a QVC shopper: They sell a Creations II blender that is essentially a 5200 series blender with a 5 year warranty rather than a 7 year warranty. They appear to be exclusive to QVC, and come in a variety of colors. I "inherited" a Creations II (after buying the Explorian E310) and it really is just a 5200 with a different name. Have thought about buying one of the new/advanced series, but already having three Vitamix blenders I'm not sure it's worth the money :) I was on the fence regarding the cost of Vitamix, but I'm sure glad I did buy one as it's an AMAZING blender!

Thank you for making this video. The choices aren't easy even though the product line is amazing. I owned a Vitamix years ago that I purchased at Costo and the motor was problematic within 3 weeks of using it 4 times. I was highly discouraged but I love to cook and know the Vitamix will help me with things I'd like to create. I am mostly cooking for 2 people, I am adventurous with recipes, a techy (but doesn't have to be the tech one) and am thinking I want the food processor. The question is will the food processor work on the following models? A2300, A2500, and A3500. Which do you think would be best and if not one of these, please let me know. Appreciate what you do!

The warranty is through Vitamix not QVC so you would want to contact their customer service

I did not know Vitamix blenders could make nut milks, what about oat? Hopefully I can get my hands on a V1200 CR.

I love my Vitamix 6300, but I was looking into the Ascent A3500. The website was having issues or I would have clicked buy. The next day I stopped into a local store and was able to look at the machine in person for the first time. I'm so glad I did, because I realized the low profile container was too challenging for my older hands to remove. Anyone know of other good options that would also provide a food processor option (like one of the A3500 bundles)?

Hello there! Smart System Vitamix blenders (Ascent and Venturist series) are the only ones that are compatible with the Food Processor attachment. All of these machines come with a self detect container with the clear plastic lid, that seems to be more challenging for your hands compared to the rubber lid. :-/ I love the 6300! I say use it until it bites the dust! ~Tarashaun

What’s the difference A2300 & A3500 & A3300? Thank you.

Hi Alice! The A2300 and A3300 are almost the same in terms of features. The A2300 has more traditional Vitamix switches and dials while the A3300 is touchscreen with more of a stereo dial and also has a digital timer. The A3500 has all the bells and whistles: touchscreen, program settings, digital timer, can add time. It's the one I have on my counter. You can learn more about each model in the Ascent series with my review here: www.blenderbabes.com/blender-babes-101/blender-reviews/vitamix-ascent-series-review/ ~Tarashaun
