Carlsen himself disputes the statement he is great at endgames because they are usually winning from the start.

Interesting take. That is no doubt true much of the time. But it also seems like a bit of false humility regarding his endgame skill as well.

Carlsen's Habit #3, playing Anti-Computer Chess, doesn't only make it difficult for his opponents to prepare. It also throws commentators for a loop. How often has an analyst (present company excepted) declared Magnus has blundered after the anakyst's engine put up a ?? and Magnus went on to win? Neither Stiockfish nor the analyst understood what Magnus was thinking, though the analyst (if he was a serious grandmaster and not an aspiring comedian) might have been able to suss it out with his human intuition if he'd tried. I certainly couldn't, but someone like Naroditsky or Hikaru or Fabi might.

I will check it out. I am considering a video on how to solve puzzles and how to calculate.

@@pudugaikids8837 i think it’s just from general pattern recognition. In theory the tactics should just “pop out” at you, or at least appear more prominently, as you solve more puzzles/tactics and ingrain the patterns into your mind. The tactical patterns really got ingrained into me after doing the Woodpecker Method

Excellent video. I think the first habit (learning as many openings as possible) just depends on where you are in your chess development. I found that getting really good at a few openings worked out better than being just ok in many openings. Could be just my lazy nature.

Pro's study each other's games so that strategy would give magnus an edge. Amateurs rarely know the pet openings of their opponents so no edge, indeed with limited skill it's a risky strategy unless you know All the opening traps to avoid.

14:53 why not go black king e3? and get black bishop to d5 and take on h2 ?... that way it would be 3 pawns vs king instead of just 2 ?.. the white pawn on b5 is 100% useless... and so is the white bishop.
@Veaseify

The White pawn on b5 isn't useless, it stops Blacks a pawn from moving, the White bishop isn't useless, it prevents the black h pawn from queening. That is why the winning method is to take the b pawn with the king because White can't control the threats on both sides of the board.

Please reconsider this video. Well done in theory. yet there are many examples here of inaccurate statements and excessive babble that could be reconsidered. e.g. 11:16 hold a draw? not a prayer. Plus you usually do not talk us to death but rather provide very good chess schooling. Here you wanted to force fit things to your goals. Mostly accurate but ??? I am saying this is not as good as most of your work. I teach children chess and this video would not make my list of videos to watch when most of yours are saved to the chess school file on my computer. GBYAY.
