Here are the 5 most common mistakes people make when opening a S&G dial group II lock.
1. When dialing the combo, make sure you count every time a number hits the opening index. For instance, if your start dialing your combo to the left and your first number is 80, when you go to the next number, and if the number is under 80, for instance 50, go to the right directly from 80 to 50 without going all the way around and count it as a full turn.
2. Be very accurate when stopping on a number. A lot of times when you are dialing the combo you may go over a number by a hair or so, and instead of starting over again you just keep going. That is a big mistake, because you are not only wasting time if you keep on dialing the combo, but it not going to open anyways. So, just start over again.
3. Make sure to count the amount of turns. Remember that from your first number you start counting down, so the actual number of turns is 4-3-2-1. Also, keep track of which direction you are turning the dial. The sequence is Left, Right, Left, Right. So, the sequence is 4 times to the left, 3 times to the right, 2 times to the left, and 1 time to the right until the dial stops turning. Turn handle to open the door.
4. Once you are done dialing the combination, turn the dial a last time to the Right until you can't turn it any more. You'll be surprise of how many people forget to do this last step.
5. Always start dialing the combination counter clockwise. it sounds simple enough, but I've had customers that couldn't open the safe just because of that.
Okay, I hope this helps some one having trouble opening their lock.
