definitely please do. many do the so called "golden route" from tokyo > kyoto > osaka or so. but i rarely hear okinawa or fukuoka as their destination of choice. fukuoka was mys last city to visit and the yatai culture is magical. you sit shoulder to shoulder with the locals and you get to talk with the natives. the yatai owners pour their hearts into their work and i highly appreciated that.

Thanks for sharing! We're planning our 2nd trip to Japan (but only for 1 week). Think Fukuoka (and surrounding areas) is worth the commitment? Or maybe somewhere else? (golden triangle already done)

I think Fukuoka for your 2nd Japan trip would be amazing and definitely worth the commitment! I enjoyed exploring downtown Fukuoka for yatai hopping and trying all the Tonkotsu ramen I could eat. Then for day trips, you could visit more scenic places like Itoshima, Yanagawa, Dazaifu or even Beppu :)

For lodging, I stay at Airbnb ☺️ The one I stay at wasn’t the best, it was on the older side but covers the basic necessities

I think I saw your previous vlog in Kyoto but I think you made me love Fukuoka specially Yanagawa and Itoshima. I'm currently planning my first ever trip to Japan and yet I keep finding hidden cities like Yanagawa and Itoshima. Definitely adding it to a future trip.

This is such a sweet comment ♥️ Fukuoka was my favorite region out of the 3 places I visited (Tokyo and Kyoto were the other regions) and it was my first trip to Japan too! Wishing you good luck in planning your first Japan trip ☺️!

If I recall correctly, we took the Ninshitetsu Tenjin Omuta line from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station all the way to Nishitetsu-Yanagawa Station which was almost 1 1/2 hours ☺
