as a kid I had the life-altering experience of seeing Turner and Hooch in the theaters. The best part was that the audio reel was apparently not available for the first 45 minutes and was replaced with an old jazz album. No dialogue. No theatre employees pulling a MST3K. Nothing but Jazz and no one walked out. Fucking incredible.

i.made.a.universe That's fantastic. I didn't think another "theatrical fuck up that somehow worked" would be better than the time I saw that movie about Shakespeare (that was about a fraud or conspiracy theory or something) from a few years ago in a second run theater.... this place still used film and they'd totally screwed up the reel order, so a handful of scenes were totally out of place in the overall order of things but it managed to Tarantino the fuck out of a movie that was ultimately kind of forgettable.

I once made a short film that was an easter themed horror film. The killer had a big fluffy coat and was basically the easter bunny and he killed people with a spatula. The bodies were discovered in a gigantic chocolate egg, covered in red squares on their skin. During the neighbourhood interviews, we can see a man with all his cutlery neatly assigned on a magnetic plate on the wall, but there is a space where a spatula should be... :P At 15 years old I was pretty proud of that one! Used a kinder egg with the legs of a barbie sticking out to get the shot of the corpses. Well, if anyone wants to make this into a film, you have my permission. We lost all the footage because of a rainstorm.... Stupid Holland

"Denver, the last dinosaur...he's my friend and a whole lot more." My god, I've never been so forcibly whip-lashed back into childhood memories.

You made no mention of Baby: Secret Of The Lost Legend... that movie shaped me into the man I am today.

The reason you don't see more in the muscle man takes care of children genre is because it peaked in 1994 with Twin Sitters, in which twin former pro wrestlers David and Peter Paul, "the Barbarian Brothers," become nannies for two horrible children who are (surprise) also twins.

there's an horror anthology film called Holidays, and it may be exactly what you're looking for when it comes to holiday themed horror movies.

Critters 2 takes place on Easter. Near the beginning, a dude in an easter bunny costume gets killed by a bunch of those alien bastards in his suit.

It's funny he mentioned Ernest. Isn't "Santa's Slay" the name of the fictional film that Ernest was trying to stop in Ernest Saves Christmas??

Holidays? Literally a movie comprised of short horror films based on almost every major American holiday. Watch it on Netflix, it's gold.

You forgot Fourth of July. There hasnt been a major thriller/slasher/horror film around that holiday yet. Prime territory. Also heres another trope that needs to come back: for Fight Tournament movies- the new fighter friend of the protagonist gets horribly injured or killed by either the antagonist or a dangerous fighter in the tournament. Was reminded of this trope when I saw "Lady Bloodfight" on Netflix 2 nights ago

When you said "5. Cop + Dog", I instantly thought of "Zootopia" :) LOL, Nick being a fox (technically a dog) and Judy being a cop. Could be a stretch, but close enough.

You're completely right. Hollywood needs to bring all of these back. I'm so tired of watching crappy unoriginal movies that have been remade over and over. Give us the good stuff like you did back in the 80's and 90's, Hollywood.
