Fashion is definitely coming around again. I took my teen girl shopping for some new clothes recently and the racks at JC Penny's looked exactly the same (flannel shirts, baby doll dresses, wide leg jeans with apliques on them) as about 25 years ago when I was shopping as a teenager.

About a year after I finished chemotherapy, my hair was growing back super thick, and it was long enough to get plastered to my neck in the heat but too short for all of it to go in a ponytail. (Growing your hair back from nothing is like having an infinite number of layers, it turns out.) So I started doing two French braids around the perimeter of my hair, sort of like a crown braid but starting at my side part. It got all my hair up (and stayed up) and was super cute. Usually I tied off the two braids in a short ponytail, but it’s also something where you could tuck the ends under with bobby pins or end it with a bun if your hair is longer.

So I don't know if it is just me but bobby pins will not hold my hair for even like 5 minutes. Any suggestions?

See if you can get any flocked hair pins. They’ve covered in something that gives them so much more grip. Someone did my hair for a wedding and they were amazing - my thick long hair stayed up all day. That was about 3 years ago and I have a couple left that I guard with my life - I really need to buy some more 😂

As your daughter gets a little older: are you going to show tips for little girls? Of course no face shown.\, deeply respect that a lot.

Can you do a video about wavy curly friendly Shampoo and conditioner BARS? I keep seeing adds for Shampoo Bars and I’m curious about how they work with Wavy Curly Hair.

But Courtney!! Breakage!! Clear elastics and bobby pins?! And jaw clips… which I thought would be safe, but I’ve been using little baby ones to pull back the sides because I got a bad haircut and the shape is weird, so it only looks cute half back or sides clipped back. I’m always super careful when using the clips, but I’ve been finding some short broken pieces where the clips go. Oh no!!! So I’m trying to figure out a safe way to clip these pieces back. Any suggestions?

Tip for #1? Tuck the ends INTO the crease of the twist, kind of like a French Twist, instead of the other direction. It gives the ends a little protection and eliminates the little flyaway ends.

Hey Courtney! Awesome vid, right on time for me as I'm also rocking a bob right now! I love being in sync with my favorite hair KZitemr!! Tip that could be of interest to your newly high-porosity hair: add one drop of oil to your leave-in. This tip has been a life-savior for me this winter where I'm getting insane frizz. I was scared my hair would be way too producty with that but no! My hair loves it and my waves stay on forever! Another tip: Use a combo of aloe vera and flaxseed gel as your leave-in (not gel) + that one drop of oil I hope this helps :)) Lots of love!!!

If you have long hair or if you grow your hair again, crown braids are so much cuter than the mom bun. You can even use mini claw clips to secure :)

I like these styles! With updo's it must be better to have no layers. I have the same length but with layers. But my curls stay in longer this way🙃😬

I’m about to go from shoulder length to probably between chin and ear, so these are right time! Just curious, did you straighten your hair before this, or just stretched out curls (like mine do) ?

I love these updos it looks super simple a lot of times when they show these sort of updos that you can do on your own I’m like yeah I don’t have that kind of skill They also used a lot of braiding a lot of times which I am not good at and I have a lot of layers

Great videos! Why don’t you wash the lengths of you hair as well as your scalp ? Most of the product is put on the lengths, not your scalp? I use a scalp brush for my scalp and then rub the shampoo in the lengths. Am I ding this all wrong? Thanks 😊

Thanks for the hairstyle ideas. As someone with shoulder length 3b curly hair, I lack inspo for hairstyles and I get bored with the same claw clip bun and ponytail. I am planning on incorporating some of these cool hairstyles into my lineup.
