I'd tell my 20 year old self: when buying a new piece of clothing, think about the rest of the pieces in your wardrobe! Dont just go around buying things you like but which are not cohesive with the things you already own! Your wardrobe is about a personal "collection" and every collection is neccesarily cohesive.

Bethany - you're like my style big sister that always offers pearls of wisdom! As someone who turned 20 a year before the pandemic began, and now spending my early 20s in the midst of the pandemic, everything seemed to turn on it's head.. Learning about style and discovering my own personal style with your help has really helped root me in something I enjoy and find breathing space in! ❤️ Even though I'm only 22, I think one thing I would tell my younger self 20 years ago is to take time with the process and to enjoy it - not too jump in too quickly to style trends or just mindlessly listening to other style influencers and buying into what -they say- I MUST have! And being thoughtful about my purchases, to not let style envy of -someone else's middle of their journey-, cloud my judgment of what my beginning should be like! To that end, I'm so thankful to have discovered your channel a year and a half ago - your content is always so refreshing and heartfelt, definitely one of my favourite channels (one of the rare channels I leave comments on!). I'm so looking forward to the Masterclass! It's going to be my breath of fresh air in a busy month up ahead ☺️ Much love to you and Zack! Always looking forward to your uploads!

I'm 23 and I've been learning english since I was 16. When you mentioned the quote about not comparing your beginning with someone else's middle I instantly thought about the languague journey. Because when you are a beginner or even when you are an intermediate learner we tend to compare ourselves with people who has a higher level in certain language. But the truth is that we don't know anything about their journeys. And we see pretty much just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure that behind that perfect English there is a lot a hard work and discipline. And I think the same is true for style and fashion. We should focus more on our own journey. Thanks Bethany :)

I would tell my younger self to appreciate the younger body that you have and that you look great!! I feel like I would compare myself to my very thin friends to a point but I look back at photos now and think wow I looked good when I didn't always necessarily feel that way. Feels like kind of a waste to not have appreciated my body as much as I could have. I think this plays in to how you dress and carry yourself.

I am 20 years old and just found this video, in a time where I am figuring out my personal style. I would like to thank you Bethany and everyone that has posted helpful advice on this video!!! 🥺💗✨Ever since I was 14 my style has always being gravitating more towards elegant and vintage chic, mixed with casual lol if that makes sense .😅Especially in this day and age with social media I felt a lot of pressure that I do not dress and genuinely like most mainstream trends on myself as it does not represent me or make me comfortable ( I think those trends look great on others and style is something entirely personal) but this video helped me understand even more that it is okay to have my own unique style. Every person should dress in clothes that are comfortable, make them feel like themselves and most of all HAPPY! Thank you, Dearly Bethany💌

I'm turning 21 in two weeks and this video was very comforting. While I don't actually regret my fashion choices throughout my life (I feel like they were made according to my age and my budget), I sometimes feel like I'm always behind everyone else. I could always do better, like everyone around me who is 25+. And that's just not true, everyone has their own timing and goes through their own learning process. So take it calmly, everything comes in life with time and patience. "You can't expect your beginning to be someone else's middle." Loved it.

All throughout high school, the teachers kept demanding us to tuck in our shirts. I never liked my shirt tucked in as I was overweight and self-conscious of my belly. I went to a bad school where kids would bully others for the littlest things (one classmate sniggered at the safety pin that held my trouser zip together), so I kept my school blazer buttoned up. Only now, at the age of 34, I've started to tuck my top in, and I never felt so confident in my body. I completed my weight loss journey years ago, but this little clothing adjustment made me realise how far I had come.

I just turned 30 this September. I would probably tell my twenty year old self what I’m saying now: have more confidence with what you wear , care less about what others think and try out the styles (wearing lipstick) and looks that scare you. Haha. I have always been a casual “tomboy” dresser that’s how I feel most comfortable but right now I’m finding ways to stay true to that side while aging up and maturing my look. One piece of advice I’d give my younger self is to never go with what everyone else is wearing. I would tell my younger self that even though society feels like it's saying that showing off your body, embracing your body means baring it, or revealing your legs, arms, etc is supposed to be empowering, you DONT have to because covering up is empowering too. For someone who has always been shy, and am now Muslim, dressing conservatively, in baggy clothes, etc and owning it is just as beautiful and empowering and doesn't mean that you're ashamed of your body in any way. I still get comments here and there that I shouldn't cover up cause it's hot or I'm beautiful and shouldn't feel like hiding or whatever, but that's why I cover up. I protect my body from the harsh sun with good quality clothing made from natural, breathable fabrics, and I cover my body because it's beautiful and I want to honor it in my own way. So, to my younger self that felt pressure to wear cropped/transluscent/tight clothing to fit in, don't. Wear what makes you smile when you're at home looking in the mirror and wear it proudly however much it is - for those who want to wear less, however little it is.

For me it would be opposite 😂 I think my bold/confident/wear-whatever-you-like 20 year old self has more to say to my now 30+ year old self than the other way around 😝 For me going to college was extremely liberating. I cam from a small town where standing out was not encouraged. Due to my personality and style I would anyway. Then, for college, I loved to thw big city where the annonimity of the masses showed me «noone here knows me or cares how I dress» It felt like permission to wear whatever I wanted, without getting weird looks, for the first time. I started buying fashion magazines and street fashion books. I was very inspired by the uniqueness of mainly Japanese street fashion. So while I was perhaps not classically stylish, I was certainly unique and felt like I expressed myself for the first time. Now, many years and jobs with uniforms or dresscodes later, I feel I have lost much of my quirky uniqueness and boldness. While you will still rarely find the colour black in my wardrobe (I am still attracted to colourful clothing😂) I am dressing much more muted/boring/practical/safe. I think my 20 year old self has something to say about that 😅 This year in october however, I will start a new job in an informal setting where there is no uniform and no dresscode. So I will re-start my journey to find my own personal style again soon and I am very excited! 🤗 Can’t wait!

I’m 20 right now but soemthing I wish I learned sooner was to throw out clothes or not buy clothes if you don’t feel confident or you’re uncomfortable in them, even though they’re on trend. If you’re going to feel like you have to suck in your stomach or those jeans with all the rips really don’t make you feel good then you don’t need it!

I was thinking about my collegue days recently. Now I would tell myself to dress more elegant for everything. Confort doesn't needs to look baggy or cheap. Try harder. Quality over quantity of clothes.

I rewatched the famous blue sweater speech by meryl streep in "the devil wears prada" and thought I should start paying more attention to fashion. Your channel has helped me enormously! I'm even taking your advice on doing a style look book right now, so thanks so much for all your great videos! 😊

I think it was easier for 20 somethings when we didn't have the internet. I don't regret any of my styling choices even though I was a bit cheap looking at times. Your 20s are for trials and errors. Just make sure you do evolve. My personal style is still there after all these years. It's just better now at 48.
