The playing is great, and the tone of your guitar is absolutely amazing. Like I am jealous of that tone

Fantastic video homie. Keep it up. Just spent the last three days learning the fck out of these lines and how I can implement them in jazz/blues tunes. Absolutely good content my brother. Much much appreciated :)

Been listening to Benson way back to his days recording for Creed Taylor. Those old studio albums had some really great players like Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Airto Moreira, Steve Gadd, Micheal and Randy Brecker, Hubert Laws, Freddy Hubbard, Milt Jackson and just so many more. The talent pool at CTI was just amazingly deep. Taylor just picked someone, put their name on the album and away they all went! George put out White Rabbit, Body Talk, Good King Bad. One thing that stands out in this series of recordings is how during this period, George develops a discipline to the way he uses "licks." In some earlier stuff, his obvious natural talent is somewhat unbounded and he tends toward saturating his solos with notes without very much breathing room. Your choice of these five licks shows that you have observed this in his style also. These are the glue that hold George to the ground and they get you into position to jump off them and get back on easily. Well done Justin. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. I am going into the studio now to imitate these lessons from you. Consider yourself flattered! And........Thank You. I learned something from you today.

You might like Benson's work on the great soul funk jazz album Midnight Creeper by Lou Donaldson. If you like it you will also like The Scorpion (Live at the Cadillac Club) by Donaldson as well. No Benson but Melvin Sparks does some unique guitar work.

Fantastic stuff man! I hear that last line (lick 5) as outlining an A7 chord (V7 of II which is a secondary dominant and used all the time at that point of a jazz blues). Thanks for the vid!

I love 335s. But your vid makes me realise how they sound almost like a solid for obvious reasons compared to benson type guitars. I just bought a GB10. Love it.

Studying Benson covers so much ground- he blends jazz and blues so tastefully and has a technical bag of tricks with which to execute the licks. Learning a GB lick is like 3 lessons in one. Thanks for this!

though marvin's reply was completely uncool, you can always slow down the playback speed and help you learn licks to get them under your fingers.
