The 1911 and the Glock are my two favorite pistols. They are both fairly simple guns but are both some of the MOST reliable guns to be ever made. They are also very beautiful guns when it comes to aesthetics. I feel like the 1911 took the cake for most of the 1900’s. But when the Glock came out in the 80’s, I feel like the Glock took the cake and was the icing on top of the cake, ending off the 1900’s and starting the new millennium with a very innovative gun that gave the 1911 a run for its money. Now in the 2000’s, the 1911 is still on top of the game. They now have a relatively new addition on the market which is the 2011, that came out in the 80’s and 90’s, but is a very nice upgrade to the 1911. In the 2000’s, the Glock is also on top of the game with many different models to choose from, many different calibers to choose from, and all kinds of upgrades and attachments to choose. These two guns will forever be remembered in history.

They held the line against overwhelming odds multiple times, and continued to resist after. The 1907's they purchased were in .32ACP. Apparently they were beloved by many, including the French. Besides, I'd take a Savage 1907 over a FP-45 Liberator any day. Especially since the 1907 was beloved by soooo many people. It was the 1st "double stack" handgun that was commercially available to the public and was a hit. "10 Shots Quick" was the slogan. They were liked by many including movie stars, gangsters, etc. It is a shame Savage discontinued them. A friend of mine has one in .380ACP in it's a very cool little plinker. They are surprising easy to point and hit with, but they are a little snappy in the recoil. I'd like to have a 32ACP in the collection just because of History and how they takedown. As an American, I respect the French. We wouldn't have the country we have today without their help. And with our recent international history, I don't think we have any place to make fun anymore...

@@Heiguiking1777 No, I'm a gunsmith. It's part of my job to know about important firearms that the public and internet trolls ignore. If I bought every firearm that intrigued me, I'd be broke. Besides, I'd rather buy some .380 and go plink with my friend's fine example. That's what happens when you have friends :)

Never used the 1911, but used the Hi-Power. You could really appreciate how it was built and how solid it felt. Even with its disadvantages regarding stowage, I’d still be as happy with it as a glock.

Plus it looks cool as hell. When you think of a pistol the first thing that comes to mind is a 1911.

I love the 1911 but my all time favorite weapon is the Browning M2 .50cal Machine Gun aka Ma Deuce. That weapon kept my platoon alive during a firefight on the Al Shahaddah bridge in Mosul, Iraq 🇮🇶 2004. It’s also where I earned my Combat Action Badge and ARCOM w/“V” device

U can leave the rounds in the magazines for years and nothing will happen. I’ve seen mags from nam still loaded with rounds in them and it works like a charm (mag has never been used to fire) I have some from the 00’s and the springs are perfectly fine

First firearm I ever received from my dad was a Kimber Custom Eclipse 1911 it’s still one of my best looking guns in my collection. Unfortunately Kimber isn’t the best company and it’s has its issues lol.

As far as Handguns go, the 1911 is my TOP favorite out of 5. It’s 1911, Browning Hi-Power, Glock 19, Beretta M92, and the TT-33

Tbf they were very reliable and still are but but getting a 1911 reliable is expensive because the way they're designed requires nearly everything to be fitted most manufacturers shy of ed brown do minimal fitting to get the gun out the door, not to mention the dozens of different designs of magazines stacked on top of tolerance differences from each make and manufacter sometimes with different tolerances at different price points from the same brand.
