I've lived in Tokyo for 40 years and I too recommend Takashimaya's restaurant if you visit Shinjuku! It's easy to visit and they probably have great service for travelers. It's not for the maniacs, but one of the best choices!

I absolutely agree! I think that different people have different values, and resident expats might not be able to justify eating at a fancy restaurant in the top floor of a expensive shopping center, especially if they know better places or have a fixed budget, but travelers with limited time who are looking for "safe bets" in terms of quality and authenticity will have a good time here!

@@Ciaela No doubt about it! Shinjuku is a difficult city to explore because there are not many good restaurants for the size of the city. Eel and sukiyaki are surprisingly good, even though they are not as famous as sushi. I highly recommend travelers to experience the taste of these restaurants! and Tsubame Grill is another good choice.

If people are not comfortable with eggs, they should know that Japanese standards for egg are much higher than any other country. Any egg in the supermarket is completely safe to eat raw, no special treatments needed. The raw egg when dipping doesn't feel or look that bad as you may imagine, but the addition it gives in flavor and texture is amazing. Just do it.

たとえ英語が出来なくても、リスニングの練習のつもりで、この種の動画を見ることは有意義です。とくに、「講師」が美女だと飽きませんし。 Even if you don't speak English, it's worth watching these kinds of videos for listening practice. Especially if the “teacher” is a beautiful woman, I won’t get tired of it.

In Shinjuku, you will not go wrong if you eat and drink outside of "Kabukicho". Please note that eating and drinking in Kabukicho can be very dangerous if you are not experienced, even if you are Japanese. Especially at night. Japanese people have a very strict evaluation of taste, so if a restaurant is not good, it will not survive. There are many cheap and tasty restaurants, but they tend to be expensive because of the high rent in the center of the city. And the height of a building is proportional to its price. But great report! I am Japanese and lived in Shinjuku for 4 years. In a few weeks, it will be spring in Japan. Spring in Japan is the season of cherry blossoms. To all of you overseas! Please come and see the spring in Japan and I guarantee you will be 100% impressed.
Can someone spell out the eel dish name? Thank you. 🙂

@@Ciaela Most food and travel vlogs are very meat centric. It would be nice if someone just tossed in one or two suggestions for the vegetarians/vegans watching when they're talking about all the great places to eat and go to. Even mentioning if vegetarian options exist on the menu of places they go.

It's been a while since I've visited but I really liked the decor at the ramen museum in Yokohama. Noodles were good too, but it's tough if you want to try stuff from more than one stall because when I went at least the amount of waiting in line makes that a daunting proposition. My original plan was to get half orders (which they do) at two places, but after seeing the lines, we quickly decided to just eat at the one.

Greetings and Happy Valentine’s Day from Hong Kong. Hello, Miss Micaela. I found your KZitem channel as a suggestion from Miss Taylor’s (Taylor Richard), Miss Honeykree’s, Miss Sharla’s (Sharmeleon), Miss Jennifer’s (LayersOf_Jenn), Miss Kelsi May’s, Miss Susie Woo’s, Miss Mariel Stein’s and Miss Hailey Jane’s channels. Sorry for the loss of your baby daughter…. hope you are able to get yourself back… Anyway, sushi is definitely one of the Japanese foods we would try in Tokyo, especially rotational/conveyor belt ones. 🍣
