The difference with regular packaging PE foam and the black PE foam used for the switch pads is that the black ones are actually anti-static (unlike the regular packaging foam). There is no sonic difference between the two foams, but the black foam is better in metallic builds for mitigating shock risks that regular PE foam can potentially cause.
@kennethphamdao4186
2 жыл бұрын
Anti static foam is conductive, and is usually dyed pink to indicate it is antistatic. Using antistatic foam may short your other keys because it is conductive. What you want is a static dissipative foam which is usually used to protect electrically sensitive products.
@kylechan8445

@@click_me_for_free_robux50k wow a reply 2 years later lol. I recently finally removed the switch pads and the sound is much better without anything in my Q1 (First edition). Don't buy the switch pads if you ever think about removing them. It's a nightmare. Personally I really didn't like using normal packing PE foam. If you can get ixpe foam precut cheap somewhere, that would be a recommendation. Personally I prefer my Q1 pretty barebones these days: - force break is a must - remove inlet foam under pcb - polyfill in the bottom - plate foam That's my setup for a clacky build with flex. Just use tape mod if it's too bright for you

I was actually debating between those too. I bought the DNA65 for the looks. I’m a little bit underwhelmed. Here are my issues: • It doesn’t look as premium as I expected. On my unit the frosted acrylic has multiple scratches. • The golden DNA logo isn’t as visible through the frosted acrylic as I had hoped. • The side RGB on the bottom looks nice, but seems to reset to the default rainbow setting after each reboot. • The bottom need some modding to the feet to prevent the keyboard from tilting over when pressing keys on the left and right top corners. • North facing LEDs prevents me from using cherry profile keycaps with my switch of choice I’ve heard some people complain about the function keys not working, but on mine (bought from keyrepublic’s aliexpress store) it seems to work. Apart from that it’s a pretty affordable keyboard that looks like a much more expensive board (except with less attention to detail)

It's worth putting the bandaid on the bottom of the stab hole, as well as the top. Also... I don't think that's the gummy O-ring mod. I believe that's when an O-ring spans the perimeter of the plate, emulating a gasket mount. I don't think your O-ring mod is doing anything tbh, the tofu O-ring mod is not just on the standoffs, but the screws.
