Great information. Thank you so much. We've had quite a go. I've learned a lot, luckily I was a care giver for 12 years before having children. I was lucky to have had that experience. ❤

Wow ! I have thought about all these things but it's kind of been in the background. Our child is 8 right now and he is diagnosed with level 2 autism. I always think about what will happen to him if me and my wife pass away. He has a twin brother but I don't want to put the burden all on him to take care of his brother. It is very overwhelming to think about. Thanks for all the info.

You are welcome! Glad you found the info helpful. My kids are 18 months apart and here is an interview with my typically developing son that might help: marybarbera.com/85

My son's father passed away and I had a "guardianship" due to his inheritance. Once my son turned 18, it was transferred to a "Supplemental needs trust". I also have DPOA :) I am in Florida. I am in the process of filing for him to continue receiving his father's survivor benefit.
