Morning, Once again a great video. I agree with your many tips and guide messages. I have a similar extension wings setup but I have extended the platform (also made of Formply) all the way across the face of the of the saw giving even greater support to the material being cut. It is just so easy to work with all round. However, I do not have the vertical fence across the blade face but use the supplied fence and have a 30x60 aluminium extrusion( yes I am from Aus so it is aluminium) as the remainder of the outside fence and it is set back about 3mm in case of a wavy board being cut. Like your supports the platform and extrusions all comes off by undoing a few screws for mitre and odd angle cuts. I use playing cards to shim it up so that the whole platform is level. Yes, it is possible to cut it in half......then use the shims to level it. This is my third saw using this arrangement and it makes using the mitre saw a lot safer and easier to use. Keep up the great tips and Dad jokes.

Great tips Knackaaaaars!!! For that last tip, I recon it would be worthwhile getting a stick down tape measure for a couple and align it with 3 or 4 marks you measure from the sacrificial cut where you did just the one, that way you've always got a measure attached to the wing(s) that you can reference your stop block to Its a shame we cant get that form ply stuff here in the UK, unless its at a crazy price. It looks great for these projects Great video though Shane!

After many years have finally bought a home and am looking for a mitre saw. Would a Makita one be a good one to go with? Would prefer to buy one that will last the distance
@missiedegon608
2 ай бұрын
You weren't asking ME, but this is what I do--- Make a list of models with the features you want. Want ALL the features ;) Sadly cross out the ones whose price exceeds your justification level. Then read every review you can find on the models you have left. Contractors and the like are BRUTAL (ie, honest) in their condemnation of tools that wasted their time. (Seems they also tend to buy from brick and mortar stores, so lean towards those reviews.) Everyone has their favorite, trusted, go-to manufacturers--- mine are Bosch/Makita, Dad's was Makita, husband's was Dewalt. All 3 are great makers (and priced accordingly). But even the top brands occasionally produce lemons. I couldn't afford the Bosch miter I wanted, and ended up buying the (MUCH cheaper) dual bevel 10" slider from Kobalt. But 5 or so years in, I have no complaints. It's been dragged all over the countryside and suffered various abuses, but it screams on through whatever. Tldr: Read reviews of specific models from various mfrs
