In this video I talk about manga series that expand both what I call vertically and horizontally. Or stories with one main story that continues or one that expands in a more full universe. And example of a manga that just grows virtually is One Piece it’s a huge series but mainly it’s with the one series.
Comics are known to expand horizontally. You have the Justice League but then you have comic book series featuring characters in the Justice League in their own comic book series such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well known to have a story that has been grown both vertically as well as horizontally. And people love that about the MCU. With characters like Iron Man and Captain America having their own stories and bringing all of the characters together in the Avengers.
Here are a few manga series that do that as well. With multiple series that expand the world of that original manga.
Sword Art Online.
Is it wrong to try to pick up Girls in a Dungeon?
And My Hero Academia
All of these have their main series plus other series focused on different characters.
These are great examples of big universe manga series. And as someone who grew up with comics I really love this and am excited about stories that do that.
