I’d love to hear more about why you left teaching. I’m in almost the same position as you. Yesterday was my last day of the school year and I will not be returning next school year other than subbing. I loved my job, students, families, and coworkers, but I will be staying home at least until December to help out my daughter. I’m at a crossroads…I’m not sure if I want to maybe return full time the following school year or if I want to pursue a new career path. I’m 47 so I’m thinking this would be a great time if I want start something new. I’m fortunate in the fact that my husband is completely supportive of whatever I choose to do. The challenge for me is figuring out what that is. I’ve shared that tomorrow is going to be the start of my decluttering journey because like you mentioned I feel like I can’t really just sit and think while being surrounded by so much stuff. One thing I do know for sure is that I just want a simpler life with less things to manage. I’ve been going back and trying to watch your older videos too while taking notes. Your channel is a huge motivation for me so I want to say thank you❤

I will have to make a longer video on this because it’s soo much as I’m sure many of us feel the same who have been teachers but this year has been a struggle in that I really miss the kids and I had such a great team but I really needed to step away and it has been such a blessing ❤️ thanks so much for sharing your story ❤️❤️❤️

@@minimaleasehave you ever considered homeschooling? Maybe having your daughter there with you will help with missing being with and teaching the kids. It’s my dream to one day have kids and homeschool them. Left the education system after 15 years and I just would much prefer a homeschooling environment for our future children. ♥️❤

I’m retiring in December at 57 after teaching 2nd grade for 30 years! It is just exhausting! I feel like I’m playing whac-a-mole all day long. Once I finish dealing with one problem , another pops up😂. I’m planning on tutoring and subbing because I know I’ll miss the kids.

Excellent video and advice. At 77 you realize how precious and fleeting life is..I begin minimalizing abt 5 yes ago and realized that was almost too late to do so. Despite health concerns I keep pushing along.

OMG, this is me right now!! I finally finished paying off my student debt, and I had the funds to buy things I thought I "wanted" at first. I bought a lot of decor and stuff to make my home cozy, only to realize that I created more clutter and spent money on things that I didn't like. I only liked them at the moment when I had them in my cart. Now, I'm going through a different phase in my life where I got tired of constantly cleaning, so I got rid of the majority of my things. I'm keeping things minimalist and simple with some simple decor that I like. I love my space and peace a lot more ❤😂

Oh yeah, the mic dropped! I am done with obsessed things at the storage unit paying $400/month for nothing! I sold and donated a lot. The stress is gone! No more worrying! I got rid of 80% of items of clothing, shoes, furniture (down to 7 pieces), tools, camping stuff, and many more. The book collection is the worst. I am building less than 800 sq ft mezzanine house! No more big home and collection. The less the more. Travel more. I subscribe to you.

this is the first video I've seen from your channel and it was so moving! I have been decluttering and then refilling my home and closet over and over since I was 17 and discovered minimalism (im now 22). but this video helped me realize part of why it never sticks is because im searching for the magic number of clothes or wardrobe aesthetic to complete me and that just doesn't exist because im already complete. loved this video, love what you're sharing. thank you

Great video! For me, and along the same idea, I found I would purchase things because I was always looking for that "one special thing". That "one special top" or the "one special necklace", or lipstick, or perfume, or purse, or set of dishes.....I'm sure you get the idea. And I never seemed to be able to find it, no matter how many tops or necklaces or perfumes etc. I bought. I've finally realized that I wasn't looking for something that was special to me, but was looking for something to make me feel I was special. And I'm still working on that, but I know now I'm not going to find it in any store.

I am a current classroom teacher and I’m getting tired of trying to fit in with other teachers and admin. My son graduates in two years. I may be able to figure out an alternative. I have a new channel that I’m still planning my first video . I have my script, I just have to film. I hope to have it done today. I have also been a minimalist for several years and we have hardly the amount of stuff we used to have. I would definitely be interested in why you left teaching and how it has impacted you financially. I make the majority of our household income, so I don’t see how I could leave my job without another option. Hugs!

I would like to know why you quit teaching I quit teaching because my classroom became a dumping ground from other teachers with their "problem kids'. I was a Special Ed teacher for Mentally/ Physically Disabled kids. My plate was already full. I also was a detention center for problem kids. Too many hats and only one me. I was no longer there making a difference for the kids I was teaching. Also going to to many meetings. I got You might say Burn Out. I loved teaching and making a difference not just there just for the "Paycheck" like most teachers.

Sorry to hear you got burnt out and essentially taken advantage of. It sounds like your school lost a great teacher (you)! Yesterday was my last day as well. I had to quit because of a family obligation until December. I’ll be subbing occasionally. I’m trying to decide if I should go back full time the following year or try a new career path. I’ve been in the field for 30 years and truly love it, but have been contemplating trying something new. In my opinion, all of the teachers that are only in it for the paycheck won’t last very long. Teaching is one of those professions where your heart needs to be truly in it and the money is secondary.
