From a professional multi dry cleaning business owner: 1. Fold sweaters on hangers to prevent bacon neck and prevent you from pulling hanger out from neck (I know you do this.) 2. use soft edge hangers for t shirts. (Come on guys, we’re not 15 anymore. Get wood hangers). 3. Don’t use fabric softener (use white vinegar with soap, then at rinse use baking soda to remove vinegar smell) 4. Fold pants on hangers too to prevent double fold lines. 5. USE A SMALL AMOUNT OF SOAP. it’s concentrated and we can smell your tide from a mile away and don’t use oxy clean on darks.!. (it’ll fade your clothes quicker and you will use more, costing you more). And use cold water. With whites only use hot water.

Don't invest in a steamer, most irons come with a steamer if you aren't confident you can use it well with an old shirt. Also, invest in hangers for your ties and pants and maybe a Dry-cleaning bag (good places will do button repairs and patches on suits, shirts etc..) Oh and polish any leather item it makes the leather hold up for longer and look nice and new.
