Hi Gemma - glad to hear you're doing OK and that you're able to be patient and give yourself time to heal. You're right - these things take time, lots of it, and you can't rush it. But you're doing everything right - keep going! 👍

Thanks for your words of encouragement Paul. It's a long recovery and needs more of my patience for sure. We live and we learn 🙏🏼

Hey Gemma.. I’m now coming up to 4 months post ACL and Meniscus repair & I’ve been the same as you with the same swelling and clicking.. I’ve been guilty of doing too much too soon also.. those dreaded knee clicks 😬 getting back into my training slowly and it feels good 🙌

Hey! Thanks for you message. The swelling is a pain in the backside isn't it. I didn't realise it would take this long to get rid of. Like you, I have a click that comes from my knee. The surgeon said it is very common and most often can be a cause of scar tissue. Keep up the recovery! I'm back on the recovery train too x

Hi Gemma, Im so glad i found your channel. I love yoga & I always do my stretches before and after weight lifting. Im at 6 weeks post op and attempted child’s pose for the first time since my accident (2 months ago) and i’m so sad that i’m struggling to do it. Were you able to accomplish childs pose again? If so, how long did it take you to accomplish?

This is exactly what I did far too much, way too soon. Im sorry I didnt see this video before! I was super active before strenous work and 3 hours fitness almost everyday and then home activities. And I was used to so much activity, I was never this slow and tired in my life. im 76 days postop now went swimming, I went to small yoga curses, did the strengthening and the maschines…and then got problems with my other knee…I dont know why, if I put so much effort and the other knee took all the weight, and get me a bursitis now. Will I ever habe the strength and endurance like before? I have an appointment to see my doctor next week, hope I didnt damage the other knee too😢Hope you are doing well. Its been 2 years now. Do you feel like the old you now? Everyone says that you come back stronger but I cannot imagine that it could be true…Im struggling❤

Iam at 5 months I also did mine in Martial Arts BJJ. Iam confused if I should go back or not I have a lot of things Iam going to have to re think 🤔 and my Acro yoga will be different when I go back. Iam just sad that I can’t even do a child’s pose the stiffness and click sound makes me crazy it’s very mentally and emotionally exhausting too. I have a Cadaver graft at this point it’s only time that will heal me Iam taking a year off and away from everything except for my regular yoga and pilites I have Plateaued in my physical therapy so At this point I believe Time heals everything 🙏

Hey, I feel you! I felt exactly the same with my progress. It's a long journey to say the least. I am coming up to 8 months post op and still struggle with childs pose. My physical therapy went through a plateau too. The process is very draining mentally. If I can offer any words of advice it would be too keep moving, stick with the physical therapy and still continue with the ice. Your progress will pick back up again, its a long one! The clicking will eventually stop, mine did about 6-7months. I have also made the decision not to return to BJJ. I couldn't bear to go through that again. Keep with it 🙏🏻

@@GemmaLinaker Thank you 🙏 this has helped me make up my mind! Your right I don’t WANT to repeat this injury if it happened once it could very easily snap again and I can’t afford to go though this again mentally, physically and emotionally or put my family through the stress. I will stick to my yoga and reformer pilites and maybe 🤔 Thai Chi. Iam not getting any younger no sense in stressing my body out again un necessary pressure 🙏

This is what I will do also, only yoga and Pilates. Maybe cadaver is a good option as they dont cut off your own muscles. Will have done that too maybe if I had to choose. Its such a difficult decision! My only question is do you ever go back to your old self?

@@GemmaLinakerI also will never do my sport again! its such a tough fight to come back. So hard and takes so much time. I cannot do it again mentally. Im sorry this happened but I cannot changed it. I hope I would have never had this injury. Struggling to come back like before
