Hi Paris sensei, I just downloaded Mochi app and I have to say that it's a really cute and helpful app. I love the cute and fun art style. It really makes learning Japanese seem more like a fun challenge rather than boring work. Mochi is especially useful for people like me who hate learning Kanji. Feel very lucky to know your channel and MochiMochi app. 🥰

This was actually super helpful especially for learning kanji which has been the hardest part of my journey so far. I also like the idea of talking to an imaginary friend to sum up a video or your day. That’s a great way to practice speaking, I will definitely try these tips 😊 I use the Mochi mochi app too, and I'm learning the N4 vocabulary course. Love its pretty interface and sounds

I'm going to go back and watch the kiragana and katakana video. I've been watching the channel for Years now with no intention of learning, but I've decided to this semester and God, I realize that much of the descriptions that the professor and textbooks use to teach Japanese overcomplicate simple concepts. How do you suggest getting past this?
@LeSweetpea
Жыл бұрын
Ganbare! 😊 (You can do it!) and congrats on deciding to start! Which textbook are you using that feels confusing?
@rinedee6247
Жыл бұрын
@@LeSweetpea we're using the genki series (one of the professors here actually created it). I'll give an example. So you have descriptions like student at x university or an x university student. You'd say x daigaku no gakusee. But they explained this horribly by describing the it as 2 nouns with one being the main idea. Everyone inevitably figured out that the "main idea" was just an adjective made from a noun, which is a very simple concept in English. Idk, there's just been multiple instances like this that have made the experience dissatisfying😖
@LeSweetpea
Жыл бұрын
@@rinedee6247 I think in that situation I would suggest studying the lessons or the chapters before you get to class, so that you already have an understanding of the content. That way when you get to class you’re already be familiar and will just be asking questions during class. Hopefully your next teacher is a lot better, but for now I think self-studying might help! 頑張れ!

You're so welcome! 🥰 I think the most important thing, is to find something that you can be consistent with! Whether it's watching anime, or using an app/MochiMochi, reading Japanese manga, etc. or a combo or things, that will help a lot!

Watching anime is a great way to get Japanese vocabulary However, as my experience, we should start with anime for child because they're easy to understand :D

Ooh YES! That's a good one to add to it! Doraemon and Card Capture Sakura are really good for kids anime, or anything you like tbh! I started with Slice of Life animes personally (and Terrace House even though it's a drama) but whatever works is for you is perfect! ❤

I've also met in hellotalk with you at the first time. We didn't talk in hellotalk and didn't teach each other that time. but after started to follow instagram each other and watch your streams on old app that I already forgot name of that app and twitch etc. それが自分の英語学習にとってもメリットがあったということを今は感じているよ^^ また長い間話していないけど、時々パリスちゃんの事を思い出して、頑張っている姿を見る度に応援してる!✊ I also used to translate English music or movies and wrote diaries in English on my old IG that I already deleted to study English. also used to used translation tools like google translate for search words not for sentences, you know that doesn't cerrectly work for sentences but work for words, and shared talk, lang 8, Duolingo(still using and keeping mare than 900days streak), played some online games with English speakers, actually visited US and Canada to know how much my English is understandable for native speakers and to looking for a job in there+just enjoy differences or diversity. I'm not good at study with text books or teaching to myself so I used those things instead of text books. Nobody corrected my English most of times but you corrected my English sometimes when you had a IG account for study Japanese I'm not sure if you still using that. I still remember you taught me I worte "Who someone___"☓ and you corrected "Someone who___"○ And you told and asked me alot Japanese in Japanese on your streams even tho your japanese wasn't fluent as today. I've seen too many people asked me Japanese in English but you were the only one asked me in Japanese words anything you already knew. I guess your those action was really good to be fluently speaking in Japanese today! I'm proud of you. And we have different culture but never have been fought(because of you are more smart than me to avoid it🙏 or you might felt meaningless even tho my idea is discussing deeply is important to know more each other if each other had the same idea. it didn't work if it only oneself tried it) at all even tho I tried to know what American(common sense) and you are thinking actually as one of American(to know common sense and your idea/opinions/what you feel as well). Now I'm still don't know completely about English and the culture differences yet. But I appreciate you a lot from deep in my mind even tho I sometimes hated I felt like only me teaching Japanese to American and nobody taught me. I appreciate you because you improved Japanese since 2015 when I found you, and you are still learning Japanese and trying to know more Japanese people, culture and working in Japanese company now. I'm happy that you didn't give up and connected to current life. I hope oneday your work will be help to connect American people who are interested in Japanese things and correctly understand each other to build our future world. Thank you for reading long message! and I'm sorry this is too long and pointless. If you don't get it all I want you to know is I thank you a lot!

With atching Anime, do you think it is worth watching in English with Japanese subtitles for people who have started learning (already have a basic understanding of hiragana and katakana, and basic sentence patterns) to improve reading / broaden vocabulary? Thank you for this content :)
@LeSweetpea
Жыл бұрын
I think a combo of both would be good! I sometimes will turn on Japanese subtitles for American/shows or movies in English occasionally just for fun and it does help me to connect the English words to some of the Japanese vocabulary. I’d say it’s a yes if you can read fast enough in Japanese and listen at the same time in English :) I think it’s just depends on a persons reading level in Japanese, but if you can get comfortable listening in Japanese & reading it will most likely help you learn faster, but it can get tiring so I take breaks and switch it up 😊 hope this helps!
