Paul Simon has always had the voice of a true folk artist. Whether he's just talking or singing, it's sooo calming & comfortable to hear.

This is my favorite Paul Simon song; although I prefer the Dixie Hummingbird vocals. BTW, if I'm not mistaken that is David Sanborn helping out on the saxophone; he's from the Chicago area.

I'm not sure my momma loved me like a rock; She's never given me an unconditional blessing with no strings attached. That's pathetic! Moms, tell your boys you love them like a rock, and mean it! It will make a difference in your son's life. Believeth thou it!

On one of his talk-shows, Mark Christopher was talking about the music scene in 1973. He said that it was a down year as far as quality went. In other words, a lot of the songs were wimpy. Agree or disagree. Feel free to reply.

Love this loads, it's an overlooked tune - no doubt. That middle femail backing singer has a weird hand clap though, doesn't she? Whoops, sorry for that personal and banal comment- the internet has a dreadful influence on ordinarily rational people. Seriously though, if you've stumbled across this, check out the album

Paul is underated as a folk guitarist. the chord structure to "50 ways 2 leave ur lover " is so complex, it's not funny.

@dosinfartos Fail, it isn't country. It is contemporary American Folk music. Do some research on Paul Simon & do some research on what Country music actually is.

@fermos11111 I enjoy some reggae ocasionally, but this surely is not regge; Paul Simon did use some West Indies rhythms and ideas in some of his music but this song isn't one of them.
