Chris Sale being the 4 guy in the starting rotation is going to be huge. Takes a lot of the pressure off of him to be "the man" and he can just be a meaningful contributor to an already juiced rotation that saw 16 different starters last year.
@hankglidden1463
7 ай бұрын
We just need him to start like 20 games, that's it. One of the only flaws with the 2023 Braves is that there just wasn't a fifth starter. When Jared Schuster is starting 11 games despite having a near 6 ERA, you need another body. The idea of that offense being paired with a rotation of 1. Max Fried 2. Spencer Strider 3. Charlie Morton 4. Chris Sale 5. Bryce Elder I mean good Lord, the ceiling might be higher than the Dodgers.

Oh wow! I played with Ryan Walker in high school and it's surreal to see him on a Foolish video! Ryan had to slog through the minors, but he was always good at every stop he made. He's always had a great feel for his breaking stuff, and he's really fine tuned his sweeper to compliment his sinker the way you described. Him breaking out as a primary opener and key contributor in that bullpen was so awesome to see.

I got to see Woo pitch, and the consistent mid to high velo impressed me, if nothing else. His command does need work, but Seattle has a history of getting brilliant command from their arms (just look at Logan Gilbert, and of course, George Kirby). He has a very high ceiling in my book, and could possibly throw upward of 200 innings as soon as 2025 if things go well.

YES! It's that time of Year Again! Baseball Season is upon us, and that means more Picks from Foolish Bailey! I can't be the only person who LOL'd at Shota Imanaga's Picture. To be honest, I'd argue he, along with the rest of the Cubs, could be an intriguing Team to Watch. My Question is how do the Cubs handle the transition from David Ross to Craig Counsel? As much as I felt like Last Year's Collapse wasn't entirely Ross' Fault, someone had to take the fall, and unfortunately, it had to be him. Now we will find out if that was true or not. You have no idea how ENTHRALLED I am to see Chris Sale on this list. People seem to be completely negligent to the fact that Sale is basically on the BEST Team on a 'Prove-It Deal': YOUR ATLANTA BRAVES! Heck, he's NOT supposed to be our #1 Starter: He's our #3 Guy, so a LOT of pressure is off of him, and he can focus on helping the youth improve while mastering his own craft. My Expectations remain reserved though. I'm going for 10-15 Wins for Sale with an ERA of about.... Let's say around 3.50. The Twins honestly look poised to build on Last Year's Successful AL Central Division Championship, and I think Varland can add to that. I just don't know if he is a starter just yet. I'd need to see another full season from him before we fully know what he's best at. If I were to make any projections, I'd say a Slow April before he settles in would be best-case scenario. Otherwise, a Demotion to the Minors or a Bullpen Role looks likely for him currently. I could see Bryan Woo becoming that illustrious 'Innings-Eater' kind of Pitcher for Seattle. Someone who, while not their #1 Option, could be their 'Go-To' option if they're either short on staff, or need someone to buy some resting time for the bullpen. The Mariners have a lot of potential yet again, but I question how much of it they will actually utilize. Not sure I believe in the Woo like you do, but I do believe he has a spot somewhere on the M's. Ryan Walker, on the other hand, looks like someone who could be solid 7th or 8th Inning Pitcher, given his unconventional pitch options. Most Hitters these days expect a Fastball and Breaking Pitch from Pitchers, but Walker has pitches that make it impossible to lock onto what's what. And I believe he could not only elevate himself to a major Bullpen Role, but potenitally, give the Giants a Go-To Bullpen Piece that they bring in whenever possible. I just think San Francisco needs more than just Walker right now. A Great Piece, Sure, but the Giants need more than that. Great Picks, Foolish Bailey! Looking forward to the 5 Hitters that You Like Next!

2:05 You touched on it but an important thing to note is that his flyball rate was the WORST of any SP in NPB and his home run rate was the SECOND WORST of any SP in NPB last year. NPB is currently in one of the most dead of deadball eras the league has ever seen (an average NPB SP had an ERA of 3.3 last year). Coming to a very hitter friendly ballpark with a far less dead ball and a league that emphasizes launch angle and power much more than NPB does philosophically is at the very least *pretty* concerning. At the same time Darvish kind of made the same style of game work with the Cubs so you never know. His contract is so team friendly he really just has to not be completely terrible for it to be worth it.
