As someone who lives in Las Vegas, that Death Valley story is pretty much everyday reality for us now during the heat wave. When you get in your car, you have to sit there for at least five minutes and let the air blow, because otherwise the steering wheel and everything else is too hot to touch. It's fucking brutal out here and I've never wanted to move as much as I do now.

In reality Skidrow is completely under control. It is fulfilling its purpose perfectly. It is operating as designed. Just as the public display of the moldering executioner mutilated corpses of petty criminals and rebellious landless farmers were left for years swinging in rusted iron gibbets - denied even the dignity of a earthen shroud, the foetid stench of death served as a warning to surplus labor to never challenge power no matter how unjust. The vast and sundry Skidrows of the USA Empire warn the absolutely essential workers that they are absolutely fungible. Whether one is afflicted with a physical disability or an incapacitating mental illness, especially addiction, any eccentricity that interferes with your profitable exploitation will not be tolerated. You are on your own in a high tech dark age.

I remember my first time in the USA.. Been in that area and I ended up with blisters after touching the car's seats... Was not a fun experience but I was not thinking about it either at the time when I chose to sit in said car.. ( Keep in mind I think I was.. 11? At the time? I think.. Somewhere around then. ) *EDIT* Something I should add.. Keep in mind this is from my brother who lived in the USA before I did.. He is 15 years older than me ( and is the reason why I ended up in the USA in the first place lol ) .. He told me about a experience he had with a place LIKE Skidrow.. In-fact it was worse when it existed.. Look it up.. At first I did not believe him but.. Yea.. A place that was called "O Town" or "Oh Town" I never was told the exact spelling.. But it was just as bad as Skidrow if not worse. Police would not go there and just about every terrible thing you can think of happened there. My brother. Not fully knowing how bad it was.. Used to deliver pizzas and they had got a order for a place either right in or really close to the area.. Turned out it was a bunch of people who where "jumping in" a new member.. They beat my brother almost to death with bats and stole his vehicle.. He had to crawl to a phone booth to call emergency services.. Last time he would ever deliver anywhere near that area. His manager threatened to fire him but that did not go far and the owner found out.. The manager got fired and someone else took that person's place. Funny the stuff you end up remembering.. Anyways.. The place was eventually hit by I want to say the national guard? It was some joint thing that happened regardless.. And all the buildings where demolished. Some new place was eventually built there but it was a little bit.. A lot of people got arrested, some other relocated.. And.. I believe some where killed but I do not fully remember if any where or not. Its been a long time since I was told about it as well as when I read about the stuff on it. This was in California.. I want to say it was Either Visalia or Tulare? Could have been somewhere else but it was around that area of California.

Death Valley is no joke. Back in 2010, I drove from Cincinnati to LA in mid August. I stopped in Vegas to stay with a friend and then left early in the morning to LA. I drove through Death Valley without a working air conditioner however, I still had a reliable car. Even with the windows down, it felt like oven air. Ya know the air you feel after opening the oven door from preheating. There were telephone poles every 100 yards with help phones on them. I realized the danger you could be in out there.

On March 20th, my 40 year old son was on a greyhound bus heading to Oklahoma. His blood sugar dropped and he got off the bus in Holbrook AZ and wandered into the desert because he was confused from low blood sugar. He called me, saying he was lost and his phone was dying. That was the last time I heard from him. He has not been found. Unfortunately, the police department in Holbrook didn't believe he was lost in the Arizona desert. The detective just doesn't care. I believe my son died quickly from the heat. I wanted to drive there to look for him but I didn't have a car. I am almost 68 and in poor health so taking a bus wasn't an option and I do not think it will help him if I perish wandering around in the desert.i wouldn't know where to look. Currently training for my first ever marathon. Okinawa temps don't go as high as 126 F, but it will get close to 90F with 90% humidity. Even at night it only drops a couple degrees. You might wanna find an easier environment for your first run, esp if you're not used to high humidity. At 90%, it's like trying to breathe with a wet blanket wrapped around your face. When companies and the fda r deciding what drugs to pass and make legal they’re not really looking at how safe they r they’re looking at how much they’ll make vs how much they’re gonna have to pay in lawsuits and as long as the profits r higher then the payments they will make any drug legal because they don’t care about the ppl only their bank accounts

I had heat stroke during a horrible heat dome last year. I biked the first day of the heatwave when it was just 99 degrees. However, the next day when it hit 105, I spent too much time in that heat. I was in a place with no AC for a few hours. In that place of the US, most places don't have AC, so when it gets hot there, you often lack the resources you need. Thankfully, I noticed I was getting confused, left the place, came home and took a cold shower for 2 hours. That probably saved my life. Heat stroke sucked. My skin was hot to the touch for 2 weeks. By hot, I mean it felt like a severe fever. I felt so dizzy, I couldn't drive. I had an appointment and they wouldn't let me cancel without problems. It was 101-102 that day and I didn't need any more heat exposure after getting ill from it the day prior. I was exposed to more heat and started feeling wonky and irritable. I thought I was tough, but heat is no joke. Take it seriously, it will screw you up.

Death Valley is an amazing underrated place. There are actually several small ghost towns in the area that used to house miners. I visited once in the summer, and twice in the winter. The weather is more 'normal' in the winter, but especially in the summer, it's always good to be prepared. The night skies are unbelievably beautiful as well as it's got very good dark skies for good milky way viewing and photography.
