I used that brand of vanilla powder when I was really in to baking about a decade ago, it's astoundingly good and compliments pretty much any dish you might be making but the pot in the video retails for like $60 in my country and I just can't justify buying it anymore

Have you tried tonka bean powder in place of it? I don't find it as sweet & it has almond & hay scents to it too, but its a lot cheaper than vanilla powder.

Just copied my original comment/question which has no replies yet (other than spam); How can Lafaza be used in baking? Is it worth swapping it out when extract is called for? Would the amount (tsp for tsp) be the same, or would it require less? Also, the tonic bean powder sounds very interesting too, i'd have the same questions regarding qualities of that, in comparison.

All the things they said about chaat masala are true, makes things like fresh fruit, veg or fish great. But it also makes the best egg mayo salad ever, really turns an egg mayo salad sandwich up to eleven!

Feeling pretty good about my kitchen pantry , as right now I have- and use - three of these four ingredients: powdered vanilla, chaat masala and ground mushrooms. My own secret is boiled cider, which can sub for a balsamic glaze, can be used alone as a syrup for pancakes or French toast and is better than molasses in barbecue sauce. I am anxious to try the pistachio cream, I think it would be fantastic combined with marscapone as an icing or layer in a tiramisu!

My go to's are Tonka Bean and Vietnamese cinnamon. Tonka bean is vanilla on steroids, Vietnamese cinnamon is sweet and more intense that regularly used cinnamon. I make extracts of many of my spices, it's nice to have them on hand for everything.
