5:09 To all YT'ers making vids, for the love of all that is holy, please MATCH YOUR VOLUME! So often the speaking parts are quiet and the music is LOUD! The KZitem Audio Library has lots of great songs to choose from, but they are LOUD and you will need to reduce the volume of them and not just slap them into your timeline when editing. Thnx.

Probably one of the most important tips out there. I've came across many tutorial videos from small channels that had their background music blasting through my ears and can barely make out what they're saying.

Absolutely agree with this! Even I did volume editing my sounds in my very first video ever, and it was just a small showcase for my gaming mods, so not even a "wanna be a KZitemr" thing 😉 (You don't need to click on my name, there aren't any videos, it's another channel 😂)

Good is done and Done is good. Good is not the same as perfect. Don't do 300 hours of editing on a 3 minute video. It can always be more polished or fine tuned and tweaked just a liiiiittle bit more, but it is better to just call it done when you are ready to say "it is good." That's what the main message of that is meant to be. My father got a doctorate and his professors told him: "There's 2 kinds of theses, the ones that get finished and the ones that are perfect." If you keep striving for perfect instead of accepting that there are gonna be flaws or a point where you have to stop editing and say, "okay, good enough" then there's never going to be a video at all.

@DaleStrickland
3 жыл бұрын
It's really subtle. Focus on when the audio starts to see the difference. In the example shown in this video it's like this: 3:45 J cut : The audio of his line from the next clip starts before the video shows him speaking the new line 4:00 L-Cut : The example Sam shows here is very subtle What happened is the audio on the top track (the creaking from Harris spinning his chair) continued to play even when the next clip started The creaking sound carried over from the first clip and played on top of the next clip (the new angle) If Sam didn't put in the L-cut there you'd have an entirely different audio experience as it's very unlikely that the creaking was consistent in volume/tone/etc. Don't feel bad for not getting it at first, it really is super subtle. The point of these edits is to not be noticed - they help use audio as a way to smoothly transition between two clips Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

P.S. You don't need to know all of the tricks of the trade to get started. You'll never know everything, so you'll force yourself to never start Be willing to make sloppy, cringy videos that you end up not publishing (or publish and cringe years later like I have) There are plenty of free/cheap courses that'll let you play with existing footage if you do want some practice first, but a practice project works best Here's what I would want to learn to get started with video making: - Basic 3-point lighting - Basic methods for cutting/arranging footage (editing) - Tips and tricks for improving audio quality (rough video is much less of an issue than rough sound. Trust me. ) Everything else on top of that is nice-to-haves. You could even get away with making videos without those fundamentals if you really need to push through "paralysis by analysis"

Probably just 1 song thats cut and replayed. That’s the benefit of instrumentals, there’s no lyrics so you don’t have to worry about playing the same parts over again. I would also imagine there are some instrumentals that are made specifically to be used as background tracks, which would probably be on the longer side.

Tipp No 7: *Watch* your video on KZitem *before* making it *public* For example: The most will skip your video, if your sound is 10% compared to other videos, because no one wants to risk an ear damage after changing the channel. Even I made the volume similar to others on my very first video ever (other channel, no "KZitemr" thing), so it's not difficult. Sometimes I ask myself: "dude if you don't want to see your videos yourself, why should others do?"

For a video about editing a video for your first time, a lot of this stuff was VERY advanced and not easily understood by people who don't know a lot about video editing (like people who are actually looking to edit their first video lol) like when you were talking about audio, and compared 2 audio clips, you didn't even explain what was different. And when you were talking about color correction, you basically just said "you go here, you use this tool, and you correct the color", but never explained how to actually USE the tool.

To be able to create a KZitem video by adding various gameplay clips or twitch clips that you download altogether and then add maybe a voice over to discuss the video and add like a please subscribe "button type overlay" over the video etc. Then at the beginning an intro end like an outro or suggesting previous videos etc? And perhaps uploading a transition/talkover for between clips etc? Must be really basic. I found this video to be for someone that knows what they are doing cos it didn't even mention the software used and looks complicated. I'd love a how to for dummies that literally shows what to use how to use for total beginners that don't have a clue. Thank you @samwoodhall and @harrishellar!

The biggest things I've learned that really speed up my editing process are the following: 1. Learn keyboard shortcuts. - The less you use your mouse, the better (also, just ditch the razor tool). Basically what Sam said in this video, but just reiterating it. You'll be amazed at how much faster you can do everything. 2. Understand how codecs work. - Knowing what the difference between interframe and intraframe codecs are and how proxy media works will make your timeline significantly quicker and will cause a LOT less lag. 3. Don't use Adobe Premiere. - Just don't.
