Great to hear, but what's your opinion about job marketing of front-end developer?!!
@kan_adachi
6 ай бұрын
Do you mean - what are the job prospects like? I think it's the same for other roles. Companies need experienced / high-skilled workers across the entire stack. Junior-level positions are very hard to come by. I don't think this macro situation is unique to frontend! Once you attain a certain level of skill and expertise, I don't think frontend is necessarily better or worse than most other software engineering positions. With the exception of maybe AI-related skills because of the current trends. That subdomain is probably more lucrative since there's going to be a talent shortage with new business opportunities that emerge. (Just my personal prediction!)

@@kan_adachi but what about fresher? Most companies as u say they want experienced developer, if i also learn most powerful things and building stuff may they're not short list my cv?!!
@kan_adachi

@@alaashakir1712 I don't know your situation and there could be a lot of assumptions I'm making here, but I'm just responding off the cuff. What are your current skills like? Do they match what the company needs? Do you have equivalent experience in terms of project experience to what they are looking for? The market is the market - opportunities will make their way to skilled people (generally speaking.) What the macro market is like is not something you control too much. I think most of our focus as individuals should be on our own skills and our own path to improvement. That's not to say you should turn a blind eye to the market -- you should check in periodically. But try to deploy most of your thinking and focus on "what's the next valuable thing I can learn" and just keep doing that relentlessly. If you need money in the short term to survive, then I think you do what you have to to earn that money (through a different, more accessible job.) Sorry if this comes on strong, I don't mean to put you on the spot. Just spit balling.

Great info! About CSS, don't we have to be able to build a landing page from a scratch if a company give us a design? I hope designers mostly use Figma cuz of locify
@kan_adachi
6 ай бұрын
This is more of a business perspective, but working on landing pages are not the best use of our time as engineers. There are tons of drag-n-drop tools like webflow that do this comprehensively and require less skill. I'm all for using a tool like Locofy to export a Figma design to code. Because a landing page has one purpose: to get people to take action on a CTA... And as long as the solution accomplishes that job, I couldn't care if it was artisinally crafted CSS by a human or a robot. Then there's the practical argument of landing pages need to be frequently experimented with until you get it right, which makes going through a developer needlessly expensive. That said, you should be able to implement a landing page yourself as a frontend dev because the principles of implementing UIs are the same, whether that work is for a landing page or for product features.

Any advice on how to master CSS, most of us totally understand CSS, but still have to look everything up? Will learning Tailwind just make life easier?
@kan_adachi
6 ай бұрын
Nah, learning Tailwind is not very useful unless you have a pretty good grasp of CSS. I still google a lot of CSS though, and I've been writing CSS for like 10 years 😇 (much longer than I've been officially employed as a software developer) CSS is not something you'll really memorize, but the mental models of how properties work will solidify over time. You'll know when flexbox is right vs grid vs regular display: block; and stuff like that. The value of being experienced in CSS is knowing the right rule to apply in the right situation, not having all the properties memorized... because a quick google search solves that problem trivially.

@@kan_adachi yeah i started learning react from a bootcamp, just started with useState even after spending 2 months into vanilla js, i feel like react is hard, I’m facing difficulty in the first hook itself, for eg:- if there is a array of objects which contains question and options and i have to create a quiz app, most of the times my approach is right but couldn’t able to code

I like React. Personal preference. I've done some Angular, and some Vue. But nothing in a professional context. I see a lot more React jobs than Vue jobs based on my anecdotal experience, but I don't have any stats on hand to back up that claim. What are your goals? Why are you learning JS? That'll help me give you more specific guidance.
