My stance is that moving and doing business to and in Rwanda by our African-American brethren to lead expat lives thanks to their economic power could lead to misunderstandings and most of them being unwelcome in the land of their ancestors! The truth is that most of our bretheren from across the pond if not all of them hardly know nothing about Africa, its people's traditions and their ethics. Therefore, may I suggest that Rwanda put in place a council of elders that will tailor immersion classes to teach ressettling African-Americans how to navigate within the Rwandan society. They need to know how to live amongst new communities and to abide by their codes of conduct. This is a MUST because failing to do so can result in ressettlers feeling miserable and Rwandese frustrated. We would have succeeded in building a society of rancours; a dividing home which will not and never stand! To our ressettling brethren, thank you in advance for avoiding the temptation of bringing America to Africa in general and to Rwanda in particular! Mingle with your fellow Rwandese citizens and learn the way they interact between them and with other people; be observants and resist the temptation of appearing overbearing! May you at all times and circumstances bear in mind that the age factor is very important in Africa. So, make sure you show respect to men and women alike old enough to be your parents or grandparents. Be considerate to your new country and fellow contrymen and women recovering from an untold traumatic experience. Cultivate peace and cohesion, exercise patience, and understanding. Keep your voice lower and watchout your voice intonation too when interacting with people you meet for the first time and you hardly know. Be optimistic, work hard and smart to render the country more prosperous. To our Rwandese brothers and sisters, please open your arms to our African-Americans. Their ancestors left Africa centuries ago in the worst conditions one could ever imagine. As they will be mingling with you, I bet they will give you accounts of the trauma theirs ancestors went throughout all those centuries, including their owns. I'm sure that each of them currently living in Rwanda will have a traumatic experience to tell you to the point that all of you will end up shedding tears! For there is a time for everything under this sun, now has come the time for reuniting with descendants of our own people who were forcefully brought across the Atlantic, and to bond with each other. Show them the way we interact in Africa and how we treat one another. To Rwandese elders, we beg of you to mend all those African-American men: your sons, nephews, grandsons and great-grandsons who have had the courage to cross the Atlantic to come back home to you. You are seeing men before you but who are deeply broken inside of them. Most if not all of their troubles are rooted therefrom. Teach them to become African men and be patient with them. Thank you everyone for lending your ears to my plea.

Veronique Ndambo, my god you have made me cry so much. What you have written has resonated and struck a chord. I hail from Zambia. I like the appeal you made to the Rwandan people about opening their arms to African Americans and the appeal to rwandese elders to help African Americans to become Africans. I am going to print what you wrote, frame it and put it up in my lounge. God bless you
