Avata 2 might not hit perfection, but it's definitely leveled up in the game. The battery life boost is a game-changer - 23 minutes of flight time is pretty impressive for FPV drones

Sure, but if you fly it like a regular FPV drone, you’re not gonna be doing it for 23 minutes. DJI has some impressive optimization and battery tech, but its long battery life is mostly because by default the drone is much less performant than a similar traditional FPV drone.

I'm on board with some of what you're saying. However, I've got to say, Avatar 2 isn't flawless, but it's definitely leveled up in many ways. The over all image quality is sharper, and that beefy 46GB of internal storage makes flying a breeze.

Couldn't agree with you more. I purchased the avata 2 combo package and returned it less than a week after it arrived. The biggest issue to me is DJI forcing me into purchasing the motion controller(which i never wanted) that maxes out at 31.7 mph. I was bored with it on the first day. I agree that this would be a great purchase for someone just starting out, but I will not be forced to pay an additional $200 for the fpv controller 3, just to fly at faster speeds. The incapabilities between goggles, controllers, and aircraft was obviously intentional.. DJI only cares about sales, and forwarding on concerns to DJI developers means absolutely nothing.

You gained a follower. The first honest person who spoke about the camera quality. I expected better as well. If you watch any Avata 2 videos on KZitem, you have to watch it in 4k. Most persons footage on Instagram looks awful because of the compression to 1080. I watch Gopro fpv content at 1080 and it still looks clean. I love DJI but they know how to tease us!

I have the Avata 1 and I did order the Avata 2 this morning. There also might be updates to make the Camera even more to people's liking. My OG Avata costs with the complete package was over $1,200 dollars. I wasn't going to just dish out the same amount of money all over again, so I just did the 12 month financing where it's only $100 a month. I know some people at the beginning are hesitant, but as time goes along many of them upgrade at some point anyways. If your happy with the OG Avata and not interested in all the changes from the OG to the 2 or its about affordability, stick with the original. Still had to buy the freaking Controller 3 separately and a couple extra blades. DJI from what I hear is supposed to in a month like they did when the OG Avata came out to replace the DJI FPV drone plans to make the Goggles 2 and the earlier Goggles compatible with the new Avata 2. I totally get the hold back and it doesn't hurt to be a little patient and see what DJI does down the road and gives you sometime to workout what the best upgrade is going to be for you.

@@RGMGFitness Yes I hadn't even heard of the problem where you try to squeeze a 60FPS into 24 frames, then you get choppy frame drops. That is an interesting problem. So I get people wanting the 24 FPS... As I get older I find low framerates to really irritate me lol. I even find myself getting motion sickness with low framerates. Whenever I see a drone video at 24 FPS, I know it is supposed to look more cinematic... but it instead makes me sad :)

@@carlthewinner without going down a rabbit hole, if you use Adobe Premiere Pro you can do something called “interpret footage” which helps with mix frame rates on a timeline. Yeah, just something to be aware of. 👍

@@RGMGFitness Oh very good to know. Thanks! I don't do a ton of post processing on my videos. I know that I could get better results by doing things like recording in D-Log, using Gyroflow instead of the built in stabilization etc... But I found that I don't enjoy the video processing and editing process at all. In fact I actively despise it. So just flying and having really nice video come out of the drone is a big win for me. Then I just mainly need to put my videos in a timeline and trim them to the most interesting parts.

Could you tell us which GoPro mount you are using on the Avata ? I’ve looked but not sure which one to buy
@RGMGFitness
5 ай бұрын
Sure...no problem. I just use a standard curve or flat (mainly curved though) adhesive mount like this one here; rb.gy/4xcsml That in conjunction with my GoPro10 Bones mainly. Sometimes I use a different GoPro camera but mainly the GoPro10 Bones (because it's only 54grams. Nothing fancy and works perfectly. Hope that helps! Oh, and I put the adhesive mount on the Avata Batteries (not the actual Avata itself). This way I'm sure not to block any GPS signal. The GPS unit itself sits toward the front of the Avata nose area so mounting the GoPro on the battery itself is ideal.

It's just perfect for someone like me who is not into the ecosystem yet. But I'm definitely waiting a few months for the hype to die down, and honest reviews to come forth. Everything up right now is cookie cutter Happy reviews from people who got the drone for free. Expert FPV pilots are devoting half the runtime of their videos to a joystick They will never use once the camera stops rolling. Rather than performing strict testing with the DJI FPV3. I'm very confident they will open backwards compatibility, you can't even buy the standalone drone on the website yet. They are just trying to push their launch packages, I'd be shocked if they don't drop an update for backwards compatibility.

Sure...that's an option but I've already got my workflow and settings all dialed in. Plus, I hard-wired my original Avata (tore it apart and soldered some wires to the battery leads) so for me it's not like someone would be buying a 'stock' Avata (original). Mine is unique in that regard. I can plus my GoPro10 Bones directly into the wires I've soldered.

Yeah, not for everyone and can be expensive. Wish DJI would bring back the original 'DJI FPV Goggles' form factor. Those just fit so nicely. These smaller form factors just never fit quite right.
