I was living in Estonia until recently, and now I'm missing life there. As you said, if you're working in IT, it's not difficult to get a job with a decent salary. (I'm saying this as a software engineer) Estonian isn't an easy language for non-Europeans (like me), but 8 years would be enough time period to study to pass a B1 exam IMO. I am Estonian citizen born and raised in Estonia, but living in Germany.. when I come to Estonia, when I see the prices for rent / real estate to buy / beauty industry / restaurants / entertainment.. I think - OMG it is so cheap! Try to buy an apartment in London :) Estonia is not an expensive country compared to other EU countries.. Also, I cannot imagine any other country where you meet a lawyer or a doctor who do not speak the local language.. it is logical, isnt it :) In general it is complicate to move to any other country and start everything from the beginning.. telling as person who moved as a teen and went through university / work search / friends and partner finding. Not easy but it worth it :) Love my home country Estonia!

Same everywhere, just migrants communites are bigger. No, Swedes do not want to live where migrants are living. No they do not want their childres go to migrant dominant schools. These are expensive areas they are living to keep distance. Official migrant friendly politics do not tell you about the reality. If a foreigner wants to live here then should try to do it like Estonians. If your culture, habits, religion are so important then why you move out of your home country at all? Local people have right to keep their traditional life style. Where else they can practise it? Why they should pretend happiness about someone who do not care about local habits.

People move to another countries for a better life. Same reason Estonians moved to Finland, Sweden, Australia and Canada. Doesn’t mean they stop being Estonians and just forget the language and culture to integrate in the new culture. There are no immigrants I know who aren’t creating hundreds of thousands euros in taxes so that Estonian economy and social health care system can work. All the while, they are single and young so they hardly take anything from social healthcare system. And Estonia and EU doesn’t let people in who don’t have any benefit. In fact the only reason immigrants come to Estonia to work is because the government and businesses cannot find skilled enough employees in Estonia and the EU. No matter what the media had made you believe, these skilled immigrants are a pillar of the Estonian and the EU economy.

Havent you realised because of their culture, religion, habits and way of thinking. Do you belive if you replace Swedes with Iraqis then the living standard would be same? No, its gone with Swedes. It's because we Estonians have such a diverse language and there might be some shortcomings in communication when it comes to being in relationship. The feeling that you cannot really explain yourself when it comes to local jokes or even poetry. And when both of the partners speak English as a second or a third language, then it can get very messy even if one does not feel doing harm to another.

I would not agree on all points for sure. For once cost of living - people compare real estate prices to wages. This is because people want to live in the capital city Tallinn and commute 10 minutes to a low paying job. I have friends who are living 30 minutes commute from their work place outside of Tallinn and are paying 50-60% for housing. Other than that consider services like transportation (incl. taxi), groceries (compared to Finland for example) and so on. You are not going to thrive here on medium wage but then again, if you are moving to Estonia for work then it mostly means that you are a highly sought after specialist in your field who we can not find here. This means a better living standard. Other than that I would agree considering passport and examination and so on. We are not yet used to immigration as we are still in the emigration phase.

Number two. Kids adjust far faster and easier than adults. As long as they allowed to grow up like all the other kids around them, it is no issue. What i belive is happening is, that since Estonia doesn´t have a huge ethnic diversity, the people that are darker skinned spot out more easily in public and thus feel that they are being put on the spot. Estonians never think that in a foreign country and culture, locals should accept the traditions and customs of us, Estonians, or have such rights at the national level. Our way of thinking is this - if you live in another country - you act as if you are visiting someone and you don't make your demands there, that would be very robust. Therefore, those peoples who have many opinions and demands behave very badly for us. That's not how it's done. It is elementary in our culture. for example, countries where it is customary for women to cover themselves, we also try to do so. So that is very strange and even harassing to us. In some countries, a woman is not allowed to go to the store alone. The escort must be with you, because in their culture there is a lack of trust and there is control over each other. It only applies to women, which is particularly incomprehensible and disgusting. No privacy. At the same time, the men there are extremely pushy. Very unpleasant in our culture. However, when I am there, I obey the customs of others. Why these same nations insist on their customs in other countries and do not consider the culture of other nations is very disturbing in our eyes.

Good points thank you for sharing. Its different from someone to another. I lived in Estonia for 5 years and here are my reasons NOT to like: 1- One of lowest salaries countries and high living costs compared to salaries. 2- Dated lots of Estonian women but believe they're not faithful, things are good first 4 years but after its easy for them to cheat and they consider it normal ( NOT ALL BUT MAJORITY OF THEM). For example one of whom I dated with literally living with a guy who supposed is her partner and when we met we she changed her fb status to single and after few weeks when I knew I asked her if she's living with someone she said we are not serious. I was like wtf " in the whole world I know that a single is a person lives alone, how the f*** here a single can be living with someone and say not serious. I later figured out why majority of expats end up divorcing their estonian wives. In my opinion the weirdest life partners. 3-Hanging out places are too few that after 2 years, there was a feeling of boredom and to change, not a big country to settle in.
